Most don't even seem to read your specifications. They just send you some canned email. At least that was my experience.

At least that was my experience. wheimeng 10-31-2004, 03:42 AM What did you request for? 2003m2003 10-31-2004, 05:10 AM Well, I try it, I got two, both seem very good and what I want. I am going to use one of them. poolking 10-31-2004, 05:23 AM AndyC, If you are asking for loads of stuff for next nothing, then I wouldn't expect a response back. I would be a little more patient and think through a bit more before requesting a quote. dkitchen 10-31-2004, 05:29 AM I agree totally, it's rubbish. I have tested it out previously and you might aswell get an autoreply because thats what it is really ... Dan VapoRub 10-31-2004, 05:38 AM What were you guys requesting for? Maybe generally the suppliers weren't interested in supplying the requested specifications? HostProfessor.com 10-31-2004, 05:54 AM Did you subscribe for the newsletter or mailing? freak 10-31-2004, 05:56 AM Hmm... Might be I should try it to test it too ;) superprogram 10-31-2004, 07:22 AM AndyC what specifically did you ask for and what is that you are not happy? CGameProgrammer 10-31-2004, 07:46 AM I used it a couple of days ago. One of the things I asked for was a phpinfo.php I can view. This is a simple request, so it's obvious that whoever didn't give me it never even read my e-mail. Two people supplied it, Micfo.com and WebZPro.com. Micfo had a really nicely written letter, no copy-pasting at all, well laid out, informative, written by "Nicole Forman", so props to her. WebZPro was a quick copy+paste but with a link to the phpinfo inserted. UH-Matt 10-31-2004, 07:49 AM Hostquote is fine for people looking for cheapy hosting. I wouldnt recommend anyone use it who is looking for viable hosting, for a business for example. mark03 10-31-2004, 08:02 AM I had some good replies and some that I threw straight into the trash. I also got some automated answers. I think it happened because I asked on a weekend. On monday morning the sales department gave me some more information. i didn't decide until now. Jim_UK 10-31-2004, 08:30 AM I used host quote just once and was very clear that I wanted a specific operating system installed (Trustix) on a dedicated server to lease. I got one (possibly two) decent replies but the rest were pointless AIM messages and the most annoying emails from Superbservers trying to sell me a redhat server (yeah... I'm stupid and specifically ask for something when I want something else!). I got exactly the same spam... oops, email from them for the next three days and had to send a rather abrupt email back telling them to take me of whatever daily mailing list they had me on. Seemed to be an utter waste of time. wheimeng 10-31-2004, 08:55 AM I saw offer in dedicated offer forum with Trustix, maybe you want to look at those offers? bizness 10-31-2004, 10:07 AM From the hosts' point of view, I think that the things some people ask for are just out of hand. Things that ROI goes to infinity instead of a couple months. P10n33R 11-01-2004, 06:31 PM I got about 10 responces 4 or 5 looked alright. I ended up replying to Micfo and have been very happy with them so far. Devon Aster 11-02-2004, 05:30 AM I used it and didn't find it helpful at all. For one thing, the form is very vague. I had to cram the details into the small comments box. I also didn't know that the hosts weren't allowed to contact me by PM until after I submited. I received few emails and the ones I got weren't even that close to what I wanted (offering far more space/bandwidth than I could ever use). It was a waste of time and effort, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Instead, I'd say they were better off checking findmyhosting.com and going by personal recommendations (which is what I ultimately did). CGameProgrammer 11-02-2004, 06:17 AM I think what hurts findmyhosting.com is that, for example, inMotion was one of the top results when I did a search there, yet they're basically a scam company with many fake reviews strewn around the 'net. |
