I have a question about domain pointers that's related to hosting, but I didn't know which forum to post in, so I'll try here.

I noticed some hosts like Aletia include 3 domain pointers to a subdirectory/domain for free in their packages. Then they charge a small fee for any extra domain pointers. But some registrars offer free url directing, and some of my friends have used that, even though their host doesn't offer domain pointing.

Is this violating a host's TOS, if you use a third-party provider to forward another domain to a subdirectory? It seems kind of a fuzzy area to me.

forwarding is different than domain pointers.... domain pointers deal with the hosts DNS settings, while forwarders just point one url to another url. Unless it says "cannot use forwarders" in the TOS, which would be pointless, it shouldn't be a voilation.
