Is it common that the data usage supplied with hosting packages be the outgoing from the servers? If the allowance was 1Gb of Traffic I assume that means 1Gb out of our servers?

Cheers

And Thanks for your help guys

id assume its 1GB total (in and out)

I agree with xtstrike, usually it is total transfer in and out.

Hmmm... I think it is the max of the two. Ie... if you transfered 100 gigs out, and 90 gigs in, you'd be charged for 100 Gb. Or, if you transfered 90 gigs out and 100 gigs in, you be charged for 100Gb.

Most hosting companies have a TON of outgoing bandwidth usage, and very little incoming bandwidth usage, so they don't really mind if you use the incoming.

Also, most hosting companies are charged in the above manner, so it would only make sense to pass this on to the end user!

I believe that it is both in and out. But the above explanation sounds good too. It may depend on the host.

That only happens if you are being charged by 95th percentile method. Otherwise, it's the total transfer, incoming and outgoing.
