Relyc 01-29-2002, 02:42 AM Originally posted by tristarhost I am trying to find out if its Apple or Windows Only! Well then you should include linux. I can't offer you an apple and decide that you don't like oranges if you accept it. If on the other hand you're trying to see what people would choose given only those two options, my mistake, and I apologize ;) Chicken 01-29-2002, 02:42 AM What do you have the most experience with? Personally, I can't stand Macs, but my buddy loves them and uses them for his small business. I don't think it matters really, as you can do the same things with both. CreedFeed 01-29-2002, 02:42 AM Well it's pointless then for those who use or prefer Linux machines. Relyc 01-29-2002, 02:43 AM Originally posted by Chicken What do you have the most experience with? But i decided to buy a Mac today. I am not familiar on how to use a mac. I just want to know what other people use. CreedFeed 01-29-2002, 02:45 AM Originally posted by Relyc I'm with you on that one, I can't stand using Macs... Ditto. We have macs and windows 2000 machines on campus at the university I attend. I try to use the win2k machines whenever I need to use a comp. Macs are horrible IMO. I just can't get used to them. tristarhost 01-29-2002, 02:45 AM Originally posted by Relyc I'm with you on that one, I can't stand using Macs... What are you dislikes with Macs? Get-Hosted.com 01-29-2002, 04:08 AM I prefer Windows. But... we will have some Mac fans in here soon, and almost all people that I know that use Macs will argue they are unquestionably the best. (I know not all, but just most that I know.) I know we have some hosts here that use Macs, so if you like it, then I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea. Chicken 01-29-2002, 04:11 AM Some of it is petty, but the Mac I have in my classroom doesn't have a floppy (annoying as things can only be saved to the HD, which is small), I can't stand not having a button to eject a CD, heh, plus the damn thing locks up all the time (this is a new but most likely crappy iMac the school got for the classroom, new OS install, I don't know why it keeps locking up). I'm sure there are better Macs out there but my limited experience with them makes me not ever want to own one. As I said though, my buddy has a bunch, uses them for his business, has them networked (says this is really easy with Macs, just plug and go), and I don't think he likes PC's. If you were brought up on Macs most likely you like 'em, if you were brought up on PC's, most likely you like 'em. I was a PC baby. Ju-87 01-29-2002, 04:12 AM Linux is not a good desktop system and I hope it will never be one. It's suppose to be for networking and server not pretty graphics and games like Windows. Linux is lowly transferring to being Windows type OS which is very pathetic. I dunno why people like Macs, maybe cause they small. priyadi 01-29-2002, 05:37 AM How dare you comparing Linux to Windows :D. Linux is perfectly capable as desktop operating system. The only reason you don't see a lot of Linux desktop around is the availability of good commercial application and games. As a desktop o/s itself, it is comparable to Windows. I agree, and still the X-Windows system for Linux is an option, and it is possible to get a low memory machine running without GUI - suitable for servers. What I mean is, while I love Windows, I find it pathetic you need the GUI and applications like IE just to run a web/dns/database server. back to topic, Windows or Mac = Windows easily. No reason, just have never been in touch with a Mac. Ju-87 01-29-2002, 04:42 PM Originally posted by priyadi How dare you comparing Linux to Windows :D. The more added to the kernel the more exoplitable it is. priyadi 01-29-2002, 05:38 PM Originally posted by Ju-87 It's obvious that Linux will be a good Desktop. Everybody has different priorities and interest. You really can't tell anybody to work with a another (your) priority. |
