View Full Version : Paysystems - Bad business process?

Hi,

I was with Paysystems/Revecom for few months and when I look back at their business process, I'm not convinced that it works well in the Internet Age.

OK, this is the issue I have - they 'authorize' as soon as the CC is submited by a customer, but really validate, fraud check and 'capture' the transaction later in a couple of days.

Problems for merchants dealing with 'soft' goods - customer is granted access to previliged content as soon as CC is submitted. Now if Paysystems VOIDS a transaction AFTER couple of days, basically you gave away your content/service FREE for copuple of days!

Problems for merchants selling physical goods - if customer requests delivery by next day air, you ship it in the evening. Then if the transaction gets VOID after a couple of days you are screwed! And it gets really complicated to get your goods back and/or to contact customer for alternate card.

Personally I believe this process is not efficient. What do you thing?

Hello

Yes, It is not very efficient, but I think there is nothing they can do . Someone must check some additional things before they can tell you that it is not fraud.

I have received some charge backs from Clickbank.com in recent weeks and this is because only an automatic program does checking but I have not received any charge backs from revecom yet.

Actaully, I believe sometimes they won't know until a day or two from the processing network, if the transaction was bogus. I think they process most transactions as fast as they could. We can't hold them responsible for everything. In that case, they may start charging high chargeback fees unnecessarily and we sure don't want that.

Anyway, there are always issues about any service including having your own merchant account, which I believe is not completely free of hassles either. Just my opinion.

What happens if you provide your customer with their account, then in a couple of days Revecom contacts you and says that their CC was a fraud... What happens next? Do you cancel their account? I'm stuck...

Yeah, you just delete the account.
You can always contact paysystems and ask them why the transaction was voided and then contact the customer and try to get payment.

You can do your own fraud check before paysystems even take a look at the transaction. If you have 4 orders with 4 different cards and 4 different names with the same email, you can assume it's fraud. If you have an IP from eastern europe and a card from the US, you can assume it's fraud.

I would always contact the customer if it's an order for a high amount and there is anything that's not exactly right.

If it's a hosting account, the losses doesn't seem to be very high (just a few days).

But for content, well, what? Ask the customer to delete the PDF file? :D

If its just a one time service (content, goods, software, ..), you might wanna consider delivering only after settlement.

What r u guys using for fraud check? I can't do it manually because there are too many orders. I need something that would check the card on my end and then send the info to paysystems. Is this unheard of or something?

Thanks
