I have just got myself a merchant account, now I need a gateway.

I had two reasonable choices at first.

Barclays EPDQ
Monthly £25 (=annual £300)
Rate 2% (under 10K month) 1% over 10K

Worldpay
Setup £235
Annual (next year) £180
Rate 1.35%

Then I stumbled across www.protx.com which I had heard of before but assumed they were for the "bigboys".

Protx
Monthly £20 if less than 1000 transactions
10p if more than 1000 transactions
Thats it!!

My question is what is wrong with protx. I mean anyone use them, they are way cheaper than Barclays, Worldpay, Netbanx, secpay.
10p transaction ? No more!!! or £20 per month is less than 1000 transactions a quarter.

I couldn't see any other charges.

We use protx, they are fantastic!

We cant fault them at all. We interface with our HSBC merchant account and Protx support was responsive when setting up, we havent needed to contact them since. A++

P.S. There arent any other charges. We do well over 1000 transactions a month so we are charged 10p per transaction and thats all.

Another selling point is that the system they provide integrates into your site 100% so customers dont feel they are ever leaving you to make payment elsewhere.

They do sound too good !! I've spent the whole day+ others communicating with Worldpay about their costs and details, and because they were taking a long time to reply to the last question, I started to look elsewhere, and stumbled on protx.

Using their price calculator they look very very good too. (okay I know its their calculator :) ).

Question for UH-Matt, how do you accept MOTO orders if you integrate fully (and not use the terminal I guess)
