Gosh, I've been a moody poster this week, so why not keep it going?
Last weekend I finally set aside some time and spent a good 6 hours making ChiliASP work. Trying anyway. Just a heck of a time with virtual hosts, and though the documentation was not very clear I think I was doing it right, it just wasn't any good. (Most of the ChiliASP documentation consists of the phrase "it's easy, just go to the web-based admin and click...")
I finally got everything configured, and was running some test scripts I wrote. Then I copied them over to a test-customer site, ran the script - more or less a "hello world" script, and it actually froze my whole webserver! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Right then I did an "rm -rf" on the ChiliSoft install dir and that was that.
Anybody else have success with ChiliASP or another product? I realize there are several out there that support Perl, I'm talking about VBScript specifically. (I would imagine most people who request ASP mean to ask for VBScript ASP.) In the meantime, I've pretty much resolved to never support ASP. (Even though I do a lot of ASP development myself.)
I look forward to hearing my experience is not typical!
Thanks,
Adam
