Following is an eMail I just sent to OLM.net If you have any xperience or insights to my questions I sure would like to hear em. Thanks Folks!

:D

"Sir/Madam;
I am a fledgling webmaster maintaining a corporate site for a Real
Estate Investment firm. An opportunity to provide web design and hosting services on the sideto a niche market (potential 20-50+ customers conservatively) in the same industry has presented itself to me and I am currently working up the business plan for it. I have been investigating all the reseller plans & hosts out there for 2 weeks.

The site I have been maintaining for 2 years at my job is hosted with ultimatehost.com which I have discovered is a reseller for OLM.net Since that site has never had a down moment that I am aware of the past 2 years and has been extremely reliable. Offering these potential new customers hosting on servers I know I can trust (they interact quite regularly with the site I maintain) lends a lot of credibility to help me get started in my hosting venture. So naturally I am considering using OLM for this venture.

However, it's not clear to me how the reseller plan works. Here's what I understand... I have to pay $50.00 setup and then $50.00 monthly for UltimateIV master account in order to be able to resell. Personalized DNS renaming costs an extra $10.00 monthly?

Is that because resold accounts are placed in sub-directories of my master account and their transfer and storage amounts count against my account allotments? If not, why require me to maintain much more resources than I need at such a high cost? The resold accounts have access to all the same support materials and web based control panel as well as phone and trouble ticket support, so I am only responsible for billing?

I am comparing your plans to you sister company webaxxs.net offering the same features on the same servers for $45.00 monthly with a waived $25.00 setup fee for prepayment and resold accounts are purchased for $10.00 setup and $8.00 monthly? Also webaxxs.net offers a web based mail interface for their accounts but OLM does not?

I hope you can clear this up for me. I know I can count on the reliability of the OLM servers having firsthand knowledge of their performance over the past 2 years! And I don't have that assurance from personal experience with the alternate Host I am considering. But they only require me to maintain a basic hosting account ($20.00 monthly) in order to become a reseller.

They will be responsible for;
"* Providing direct technical support only to the reseller
* Providing billing arrangements only to the reseller
* Providing online documentation to the reseller for the support of their clients
* Providing the reseller with virtual name servers for whois identity."

I am to be responsible for;
"* Domain Name registrations or transfers
* Provide direct billing to my customers
* Provide direct Technical Support to my customers
* Abide by their Acceptable Use Policy"

Their resold accounts are functionally the same as regular accounts. There are only two differences; first, information and utilities which would point back to the Hosting company are removed. Second, resold accounts cannot themselves resell - my customers will not compete with me.

From their reseller control panel I have the ability to customize the look and feel of my customer's control panel to match my company's identity allowing me to offer my clients a control panel branded with my company's information. The control panel also enables me to add additional domains in real time and provides detailed billing history for every domain added to my Reseller account.

I'm sorry this got so long and I hope someone will take the time to answer my questions. I ackowledge my "newbieness" at reselling but I am anxious to get my business set up as I need to take advantage of the opportunity that has presented itself to me soon.

Cordially,"

I have been using OLM for the last 2 months and it's been a nightmare. Every day my websites have been off line for as much as 5 hours. I am currently looking for another host. OLM is HORRIBLE!

That's strange. I thought OLM had a really good rep. I'm interested in other peoples comments. Because I used them for something around a year ago, and they were great.
