Which would you pick if you had to?
Site5 = http://www.site5.com/resellers/plans.php
HostGator = http://www.hostgator.com/resellers.shtml
Both have similar plans and prices. I'm not sure what to pick. Doing a search on WHT seems to bring positive results for both companies. What are your thoughts?

I think it will be very hard to choose. :)
They're both serious hosts. I know Hostgator's service first hand and it's very reliable. I can't complain about anything with them.
I've also had the pleasure of chatting via MSN with Matt from Site5 and he definitely knows his stuff.
Tip: Keep a coin close by. Judging by the hosts' reputations you might have to flip on this one. :D

Following should be the most important points to differentiate :-
1> 24x7 Phone Support as you never know when your site will get into trouble.
2> Live Chat Support to work out certain things where you need a technician to instantly resolve the issue instead of playing with emails all the day.
3> 30 mins response time for tickets.
Both companies have good name on WHT and it wont be fair to say one is good and other is bad. It depends on what are your requirements and how advanced user you are on the Web.

Maby wait until one of them puts on a special. Or email both saying the other is giving you a special deal, ask them to beat the deal and see which one will go lower :D

Always hard to pick between 2 good hosts. (I heard Gator is good through colleagues)
I've been with site5 for 5 months. Only good news here too. I'd recommend them. Ticket/Email support only, but very fast response rate. And they definitely know what they're doing.
Just pick one and go with it. You're pretty much in a win-win with these 2 hosts.

Wow, that's great !
These two HSPs tied for supporters. (12:12).
I should add Hostgator to my target sourcing list now. (Site5 was there already):)

Through my support behind hostgator. Been with them for well over a year and they are so damned helpful. A quick AIM convo or email, WHAM, fixed. These guys rock.
Sorry to break the tie. LOL

A quick note, the two hosts in question are hosted at kickin (removed a filtered word) datacenters which is part of the reason why they are so reliable.
I found this thread because I wanted a 2nd reseller account in a diff datacenter than hostgator and found it. Nice to have different IP blocks when linking sites and such together for SEO.
Edited to remove filtered word. Filtered word meant donkey. LOL

I'm hep to Site5 because of the great support and sofar rock-solid hosting reseller. Killer deals offered by Site5, pricing is better I think any way you cut it.
The email response time is very fast during biz hours - usually <4 min.
However, the lack of live chat, instant messaging or phone support is a bit of a concern for the all-hell-broke-loose scenarios.

i have a free account -thanks to their blastindex promo - with site5 since Dec. 1st and so far so good :)
I had to contact support twice and both times I got very fast AND usefull replies. Just today I got an email telling they will be doing some maintenance in their servers, I was "@_@ they even send such emails!". The email was very detailed and well structured. Their servers are also fast and I like their netadmin panel.
I was with Hostgator for 1 month and didn't get that good impression of their support. I got the feeling they were a bit messed up, this one saying one thing, the other saying another, too many people looking at 1 ticket, I guess. I couldn't really test uptime/ servers because even though I was with them for 1 month, I didn't have the time to move all my sites over there, that is actually the reason why I cancelled.
On a side note, I also have an account with Idologic for a couple of weeks now and it's been great so far :) Very fast, friendly and helpful support. Have moved almost all my sites over there now (from crediblehost.com, btw) and servers have been fast too. :gthumb:
