Does qmail is Free? Also why it calls the SERVER. qmail is software not a hardware?

What is server? Software? Notepad is also software than?

Yes, qmail is free. Here is a link to qmail.org (http://www.qmail.org/). qmail is a replacement for sendmail. A lot of people like it because its easier to configure.

I'd call it a daemon, but yes it is software.
