I seem to recall some administrative interface and/or support docs for established merchants who signed up through charge.com.

I have already downloaded the support documentation (a .pdf) through authorize.net. I think what I'm looking for is on the charge.com end of things, but there's no mention of such a section on their homepage.

If anyone knows the URLs of how to get there, could you please post them?

I am specifically looking into their proprietary shopping cart system and also how to set up free check acceptance. Mostly out of curiosity :) but looking nonetheless.

Thank you!!!

The free check service is a joke. I was all happy when they told me I was getting this "$300 software for free", then I got signed up, & they gave me the link to a windows only program that is older than sin.

So I download it onto a windows machine, and it's nothing more than a cheap ripoff of quicken or money. It doesen't electronically handle checks. You simply setup a form on your site, collect the bank account number, routing number and check number. You then put this info into this cheapo program, and print your own check.

You do not need special software to do this, and I was pretty dissapointed, considering this is supposed to be worth $300. You can see for yourself here (http://www.charge.com/checks)

I haven't looked at the shopping cart software, but it's located here (http://www.charge.com/shoppingcart)

Actually,

Since about October of 2001 they have upgraded their check service and now you can accept checks just like you accept credit cards. And, there is now a recurring billing for checks. I cannot really comment about the shopping cart because I really haven't used it. I do know that it seems pretty good and easy to set up.

Is your gateway provider EFT Secure - or some other company? I beleive charge.com is a reseller for several gateway providers so it is possible yours is different then other charge.com clients.

No we use authorize.net. I though that's all they resold for.

No, at least that is not who they set me up with. When did you sign up with charge?

charge.com is a reseller of authnet. I just signed up with them this month, so I am quite sure of the check software that they give you. I know that authnet has their own check processing service, but it is not part of the standard virtual terminal setup. If it is, point us to the right place please.

I think maybe they have backups they will set you up through if your not aproved for authnet because I've had ours for 4 months.

I have had mine for over a year now so it is possible that they have changed who they resell for. I use EFT secure and they have a pretty advanced set up. Not sure what merchant acct providers use them though...

 Now that I think about it, I signed up in August, and I do remember the fellow on the phone mentioning that the "check software" was Windows only, so I told him "no thank you." (I run a Mac)

There's a new system? I wonder if it's the eCheck software in Authorize.net -- I'll go poke around in there and see what I can find. I would REALLY like to pick that up!

Thank you also for the info on the shopping cart. ;)

Graciously,
:D Karin
