Hello people :)
I would like to install Linux Mandrake 8.1 on my PC.
I have a dual boot system with Windows 98SE in my C: drive and Windows xp Pro in my E: drive ( C: & E: are 1 HD 40GB )
I have another HD with D: , F: and G: partitions.
All partitions are FAT32 system. D: drive is 4GB (this I hope is enough space for Linux huh?

Now tell me what you recommend about this installation, about partitioning D: drive (e.g how many Linux partitions?)
Also what configuration should I use for LILO after installing Mandrake? I made this installation 3 days ago and LILO couldn't find windows to boot :(
So after I've formated the linux partitions (Thank to partition Magic 7 , from DOS mode)

Can you please tell me exactly how many partitions Mandrake should need and how to configure LILO to find and boot in W98 or xp ????

Thanks alot :)

I do the same thing...almost. I use Win98, Win2k and Mandrake 8.1. I partitioned mine wint a 256MB swap space and split the rest of the drive in half, one half is / and the other half is /home.

As to LILO, I guess mine was too easy...I let it find my windows boot.ini and write it's own boot sector. Mine is set up to boot first to a screen where I can choose to boot into Linux, but the default is my windows boot (it stay there for 5 seconds), and then it goed to my boot.ini, where the default is win2k.

I hope this helps....

BTW I wrote a review for Mandrake here (http://www.shawnscomputers.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=6629)

I promise, this is not designed to try and get anyone to go to that site (it's not mine), but I worked hard at the review, so I thought perhaps you might like to read it. :D Mods, please feel free to delete that if you like.
