View Full Version : Network Solutions' Transfer Policy

NetSol has a very nice helpful link on their site about how to transfer TO them. But who would ever want to do that?

I have a client who has tried unsucessfully to transfer not one but two domains from them to us. He is very upset, understandably, that the transfers just won't go through and will have to pay another year of their inflated prices.

Can someone tell me clearly what Network Solutions does not want me to know -- namely what their transfer policy is?

Is it:

Domain must be 60 days old AND not closer than 3 months to expiring?

Anything else?

Any suggestions for getting through this?

I and my client have written NetSol several times with nary a response.

Thanks.

Your client must be the administrative contact for the domain. This is the most important piece of the puzzle. Often, the transfer is benign and smooth - though it might take a couple of weeks - if they are the admin email contact of the domain.

Domains cannot be transferred in their first 60 days. This is a registry rule and is regardless of registrar.

There is no official rule about being transferred "too close" to the expiration date that I know of. We just did 10 that were 2 weeks from expiring.

Good luck,

Another comment on the ADMIN contact ...

If you for some reason cannot verify through their automated process, such as not having that email address anymore, you need to follow the fax part of the process.

Basically you fill out a form, copy your driver's license and fax it to them. It takes about two weeks, but the one time I needed to do this it worked fine.

Thanks to both who replied. The admin contact is in order and my client verified the transfer via e-mail (and copied us on it). The domains were close to expiring, so I thought that might be it. But NS denied the transfer even though my client responded to their e-mail, and didn't give any reason. Argh!!
