Has anyone had any experience with a storefront system using PHP, MySQL, and customizable templates (like in vBulletin)? I have yet to find an open-source solution or a viable paid alternative.

Share! avara 01-26-2002, 09:43 AM I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but you might want to check out RedHat Interchange. It's the leading open-source shopping cart system, and many hosts offer it. :) Angel78 01-26-2002, 11:46 AM is that old Akopia? bigmattyh 01-26-2002, 03:01 PM Thanks, avara. I've checked out Interchange, and it seems to be a great system, but I'm looking for something in PHP and MySQL so that I can get it to integrate with vBulletin and the rest of my site. The closest thing I've found that would suit my needs is a great piece of software called YoureShop (http://youreshop.com), but I can't afford the monthly subscription fee yet. I think once my sales get going, it'd be the ideal solution, but for now, if I can find an open-source, free model -- even if it has less functionality, I'll have to go for that one. Any word on an open-source one? Or, better yet, anyone know of an open-source bulletin board like this one? magnafix 01-26-2002, 04:09 PM Try a search for phpshop, or 'the exchange project'. If you can spend a little, look at x-cart.com too. We're currently hunting for the right solution too -- something we can bundle with cc processing and ssl. Havn't found the silver bullet yet. bigmattyh 01-26-2002, 07:56 PM I checked out x-cart -- it seems to have everything I need! Thanks for the tip! Everyday 01-27-2002, 01:22 PM Take a look at edatcat (http://edatcat.com) we've been using their software it works quite well. not sure if its exactly what you want but give it a shot. shlex 01-28-2002, 04:06 PM Check Hotscripts.com (http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/E-Commerce/). You will find one. bailey 09-04-2002, 07:07 AM I'm with Everyday........not sure if it's what you're looking for, but we've used eDaCat (http://www.edatcat.com) for a couple of years now exclusively. It's alot of punch for the buck....if they charged 5 times what they charge now, we'd still use it because it can be adapted to pretty much any situation. Xanthis 09-04-2002, 10:12 AM Hi bigmattyh, The company I work just completed a shopping cart system using PHP /w mySQL backend, template driven by Smarty called Excerpo Shopping Cart. There is a demo I just recently setup at http://demo.excerpo.com and the admin area is http://demo.excerpo.com/admin Username: admin Password: password Our lead designer is still working on skinning it and what you see now is just a skin I made up for one of the clients but it does a lot of features that is comparable with other shopping cart systems. You can contact AIS Media (aismedia.com) for more information or a feature list. successful 09-05-2002, 12:06 AM x-cart.com is THE way to go! Akopia/Interchange - VERY buggy, sluggish and resource intensive phpshop - nice cart for the price. successful 09-05-2002, 12:11 AM I've used http://edatcat.com/ as well and I'd still go with www.x-cart.com . They really know what they are doing and they can customize almost anything for you at a very decent price. WebWorx 09-06-2002, 07:26 PM Hey, I have been messing around with osCommerce http://www.oscommerce.com for a little while and created a few sites for customers with it. I find it quite good. Only down side at the moment is the template side of things but it is quite easy to customise, and temlates are definately a thing of the future with it. Good luck Grant |
