View Full Version : management control panel
callumhender 01-25-2002, 02:11 AM Hi there,
:)
I am a donhost reseller,
I am intrested to know what sort of software I should be using for client management.
I have looked at, phpmanager.taysoft.com (phpmanager) which seems good, - it intergrates with Webhost Manager to do the same things as a control panel. Not sure if Donhost's servers have Webhost Manager???
Any idea's on things?
MCHost-Marc 01-25-2002, 02:59 AM Donhost uses their own control panel, not WHM.
callumhender 01-25-2002, 03:09 AM i want a client managment part as well, with billing etc.
MCHost-Marc 01-25-2002, 04:19 AM Integrated into Donhost's system or separate? I dont think there is a way to integrate it into their system, but separately you could use http://voxel.net/projects/cbms/

I think it integrates with Cpanel not WHM. Please clarify.
However, is it possible to give each reseller a phpmanager for their use independently instead of WHM?

Will MCHost/SplashHost/RemarkableHost allow to run another control panel in their system?
I read earlier somewhere in WHT, that MCHost provides (or it's possible to provide) WHM to resellers for their resellers too. However, I asked Alan of SplashHost, and he said that it meant to give root access to the resellers. I think he's right. But, does MCHost provides this facility?
Anybody knows about a WHM type Reseller Control Panel which integrates with Cpanel? The basic requirements are, (a) to create/edit/delete domains, (b) upgrade/downgrade domains, (c) suspend/list all accounts and (d) billing, if possible.
mdrussell 01-25-2002, 05:35 AM Cpanel is the frontend to WHM, so it has to integrate with WHM.
I can't speak for the others, but running a billing system / accounts system such as CBMS wouldn't cause a conflict, as it is not a control panel in the sense of Cpanel or Plesk. So you should be able to run it alongside CPanel/WHM with no problems.
Locutus 01-25-2002, 10:00 AM Hi there,
phpManager, as voxtreme mentioned about CBMS, is not a control panel in the sense of CPanel. It is a web based application that utilises the functionality of CPanel/WHM. It does not intefere with it in any way. It would just be like running a normal php script on your server as it does not require root access as a proper control panel does.
Subsequently, phpManager does not require CPanel/WHM to function. All that is required is php4 and mySQL.
WHM is only required if you wish to completely automate the setup of your accounts when a client signups (i.e Instant Activation). If you use another control panel, you would have to setup the account manually, but the rest of the functionality of phpManager will still work as this is independant of Cpanel/WHM.
We will be changing this in the future though with support for other control panels.

Locutus

Will not phpmanager create accounts automatically?
if you have WHM on your server, yes it will.
EssEss 01-25-2002, 08:02 PM ok.
How can I provide phpmanager to each of my multiple resellers?
Locutus 01-25-2002, 08:13 PM Hi,
You would do that by purchasing a license for each phpManager you give to your resellers, discount will apply of course.
This would best be discussed off-forum. Please can you email me with what exactly you plan to do.

Locutus
mk123 07-29-2002, 08:25 AM One thing good in CBMS is once client is created, you can add packages to the client. Good if you have affiliates/ partners, so you can group all his packages together.
Secondly, It has a one time Setup Amount field which is normal for WebHosting plans.
These adds to the flexibility.
Though i wanted to add a dropdown sort off with all Packages defined, so when i select its added to the first field 'Domain Type' i think and prices are populated in the Setup and Recurring Amount.
Anyone have worked on this? can share? :) Matt-fries? Kiwi?
I couldn't figure out if these are there in phpmanager.
