Wolfy 01-25-2002, 01:33 AM It seems that I'm one of the first to read this thread, so I'll ask the obligatory questions on behalf of everyone else:
Is that actual bandwidth or 95% ?
How much for additional RAM ?
How much for extra HDD's ?
What about Network Information, who is/are your upstream providers?
How much is support?
Thankyou. :)
sailor 01-29-2002, 05:41 AM actual bandwidth
256->512 75
512->1gig 125
add hd 125
Network information - we are changing these from time to time based on who has the best deal and terms that we can pass along this excellent pricing to our customers - so the best thing is to trace and see what you come up with. We have plenty of bandwidth - plenty of burst. >gig of capacity.
support is 175 per hour with no package and if you buy prepaid hours it goes down from there. Reboots are free and you will have your own reboot control in then next 3 weeks.
We also include your own extranet page to track your issues with our techs and watch your mrtg stats on your server.
traceroutes from a few different backbones all go thru Cogent.

Ghostie 01-30-2002, 03:32 PM Hi ,
am interested in obtaining one of your servers urgently.
pm me if you still have any left.
Thanks and looking forward to hear from you ;)
sailor 02-01-2002, 11:07 PM try again - we moved some servers around in thenetwork to our multihomed segments - try again.
eddie 02-01-2002, 11:53 PM What control panels do you support, and how much extra for them?
Thanks
sailor 02-02-2002, 12:38 AM we ahve customers currently running plesk (our preferred) cpanel and hsphere.
plesk is priced by how many domains you want to support - hsphere is same way and cpanel is about 99 per month
plesk averages around 200-600 flat fee and hspere is about 550.
MCHost-Marc 02-02-2002, 01:09 AM I'm interested in 2 machines right away. Can you please contact me at marc@mchost.com to discuss? :)
eddie 02-02-2002, 07:46 PM Can you tell me how many Ips are included?

MCHost-Marc 02-03-2002, 12:11 AM sailor: Do you won the data center or do you colocate there? Just wondering :) I will get back to your email later tonight.
sailor 02-03-2002, 02:24 AM we own it
akaler 02-03-2002, 07:08 AM A few more questions...
1. How much for an alternate processor? Like a Tualatin (if these are low heat rack units), or an Athlon XP 1700 or something similar?
Powerful, low heat processors like the Ahtlon are so cheap (~$120 or so for a Ahtlon XP 1700) and powerful now (unlike memory, sadly), it'd be be quite a competitive advantage to offer one in one of these deals. (hint, hint)
2. Let's say we compile a new kernal, and need you to pop on the console for a minute after a reboot to complete it... What's your minimum support time?
3. Are you a dealer for Plesk yourself? If so, what do you get with the $200 package?
4. How about firewall type services? RH ain't necessarily FreeBSD when it comes to server security.
Thanks! Nice looking deal. :)
scott2 02-03-2002, 07:57 AM The Ram and HDD are one time fees with no additional monthly? That sounds pretty good :)
sailor 02-03-2002, 12:22 PM ram and hd are one time - you pay the wholesale incvoice cost from the manufacturer.
we have managed firewall on a checkpoint on sun for 500 per month for a 100 meg port.
I will look into the processor for you. if there is no heat problem and the motherboard is fine with adn it runs faster and is cheaper or same price - then np.
service is in 15 minute increments
yes we are a plesk gold dealer - that is a 30 domain package i believe.

bitel.biz 02-05-2002, 06:31 AM OK, there's 5 IP's included, how much for extra IP's?
I'll need more then 100 IP's and I hope you don't charge for IP's as many other companies doesn't charge if IP's are justified.
Do you allow IRC shell hosting?
Thanks

The speedcheck you set up?
I just got 1343kbps, but I think the computer I'm on now is a bottleneck, heh. (Corporate connection, but on an old Dell -- the hard drive grinds when I run the test). And there's some local net trouble caused by a major provider today, to boot.
Same connection, yesterday, at maybe 3pm... a time when the net normally is pretty laggy here... I got over 5mbps on a 333Mhz iMac. Whew!
Either means virtually instant delivery of almost any kind of imaginable content. Very impressive. :)
You got good stuff, sailor. Very good stuff.
