For the last month or so, I have been fighting spam complaints, people saying we are the bad guys blah blah..

Then the users of the accounts yell at me, saying it`s not illegal to spam..

then you have info commercials on TV talking about making money on "advertising" others web sites for cash.

I`m finding these scripts on the servers as well as others telling me they are finding them..

one name it goes under is lstmrg.cgi ,

People need to stop this stupid stuff...

if you want spam to stop, you need to lose these sites asap..

If you are with me, then we all need to stop the programs from getting out there.

Hi William,

A good way to start by getting rid of Spam is not hosting sites of spammers.

I checked your site and you do not have any aup/tos listed, not even on your sign up form!

Make an AUP.
Item one: If you spam, your account is terminated immediatly.

End of AUP

i see that picture everywhere! http://u-bulk.com

the one with the group of people. Where did it originate from?!

Mass emailing is not all illegal. Its okay to email your customers / subscribers but just crawling through the web and leeching email address is wrong.

perpetual - You're right, but if you're starting a new "business" and you're sending 1.5 million emails, and don't want to have to mess with things like "comma-delimted lists" or "cgi", odds are you are not emailing your favorite opted-in customers ;-)

I think William's point was, (well, first of all venting which we all do from time to time!), but especially pointing out scripts he has found and killed on his server that other hosts should watch for.

Thanks for the info, William.
