Hi All

We have a little website that we run so that our friends and family can keep track of our travels - bigtrip.blogspot.com

We have received an email from a company that would like to put some text links on our pages and what they would cost. Although we obviously don't expect to make money from our site, we're not adverse to getting a bit of extra income therein, which brings us to the dilemna - what do we charge? We get about 400 hits per month.

Any advice or links would be a great help.

Thanks
Vic

I have a site that i manage that gets about 400 hits an hour and i only charge 60 dollars a year for text advertising. It's not as good as it used to be.

fastclick pay about $3 per 1000 banner impressions and about $10+ for every 1000 clickthroughs

Hey Tickbomb - do you happen to know of any programs like FastClick that will allow forums? As in, ones that pay CPM.

As for the thread starter's question, are you referring to 400 hits per month, or visits? If someone wants to put their link(s) on your site, start at $5.00 per link per month and work your way into discounts the more he wants to put online. Ie. For 4 links, maybe charge $10.00.

It's all about content...

If you have a strong theme with good content/visitors then the sky is the limit.

People these days are too quick to sell ads for a low fee.. and then they get stuck by not being able to raise their prices to make it worthwhile.

Take a look at some good examples... B&B web directories charge in the hundereds and sometimes thousands for yearly listings on their sites.

Don't sell your website short by trying to get the cheapest advertisers....
