Any recommendations on AuthorizeNet resellers? I notice that some offer 24/7 tech support, whereas AuthorizeNet is only 6am-11pm Pacific time. I imagine there might be other reasons to go directly with AN, but outside of the fact that there's no locked in contract, not sure what they are. Any info/suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW, who are AN's main competitors?
ezmerchantaccounts.com is good I think.

Oh yes it's very nice. It gets the appletreats brand seal of approval.

I'd a pleasent experience with harbor-net.com. They act as a broker and setup everything - Hamboltd bank for merchant account and Authorize.Net for CC gateway.

I used etransfer.net
They also set you up through Humboldt Bank (humboldtbank.com) and Authorize.net
I was into my merchant account for $69.95
(First month $29.95 lease fee and $40 doc fee)
I highly recommend them.

What about AmeriMerchants? They apparently are nationwide, with 24x7 customer support. I had called a couple of other local (metro NYC) resellers, and they were one person shows using answering services and voicemail. Not so encouraging!
In the mean time I'll check out the others. Thanks.
We got a bit uneasy about dealing with the Authorize.net
resellers because they all looked like goofballs with sites
designed by 12-year-old short-bus passengers.
We sent an e-mail directly to Authorize.net saying we wanted
to do business with them (one of our developers had become
good at coding to their interface / dealing with their quirks in
a previous job, so it would save us time) but their resellers were
making us nervous..
One of their sales people responded within an hour apologizing
for the cheeziness of their resellers and offering us the same price
to go direct that we'd seen from their resellers.
Note that we already had a merchant account set up previously,
so we were essentially only getting the "transaction gateway"
from Authorize.net.
The only problem we had was during initial setup (Authorize.net
had transposed some digits in the terminal ID so transactions
wouldn't run), but that was resolved on the first day.
Since then we have had no problems whatsoever and haven't
needed to contact them at all (over two years).
I'd say if you want to use Authorize.net and you can get a
merchant account on your own (we just asked the local bank
where we had our other accounts) then you should be happy
bypassing their resellers.
I'm wondering what you think you'll need 24/7 support for once you're set up?

I couldn't agree more! I was amazed at how crappy all of the sites were when I was searching. Some of these are quite large companies. You'd think that they would know that an unprofessional looking site turns away a lot of potential customers.

Well shortly after I started looking I got the name of a saleperson form Authorize.net and did end up going with them directly.
