Builder.com (a division of CNet.com) just posted a great review of Akopia Interchange v4.6, saying "This excellent e-commerce app is the most mature open source shopping cart and storefront product available today.

You can read the review at

http://www.builder.com/Reviews/Interchange/?tag=st.bl.3880.pro_h.bl_Interchange

The Akopia site is at

http://www.akopia.com/

I took a look at the demo and this software looks VERY nice.

1) I thought this might interest others here.

2) I wonder if anyone has any experience with this product or with Akopia.

3) I'm hoping someone will download and test the software (I'm too busy with other tasks) and tell us if all the good things Builder.com says about it is true.

If you do, please report back to all of us here at WHT.

It looks like a top-notch e-storefront system.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

I finally finished integrating it into the Cpanel system a few hours ago. It was probably the one of the most painful things I've ever installed. However once you get it up an running it just plain kicks ass. I definatly recommend it.... if you can get it setup.

If a customer has pretty easy, but custom needs, Interchange is not so great at all. There's really no point-and-click in terms of setting up the layout of a page. The pages are designed with dynamic code built in, and you basically have to learn that plus the mix of perl to do anything effectively.

Once you learn it, though, it is an incredible tool. We are thinking about using Interchange on high-level E-commerce customers, and a simpler cart system for the regular online business ones.

Well I just set up a very easy e-commerce site with it using the template. Seems pretty cool and I haven't even used it to it's full extent. There is a new minor release 4.6.1 out also.
