what do i need to make my own pc work as a server and connect it to the internet.
do i need to buy some ip#? if so from where?
or does the company that provide bandwidth does this for us?

i'm totally confused on how to do this if someone explain to me the steps necessary to do it?

I'm not sure how far you want to do this, but for starts you can check out phptriad (phpgeek.com).

Yes. The company that provide bandwidth provides this. That's pretty much it - if you have a static IP your computer can be accessible through a domain name via the DNS system

So when you have gotten your IP, just setup a DNS/use a free DNS service like mydomain.com and through that point your domain name to your ip
