Hi,
I am attempting to find a set of tech support request scripts that will run on a cobalt raq with cgiwrap on.

We would like to find something that will allow customers to fill out a form, have the server assign their information a ticket number, then allow us to respond to said form and allow the customer to login and view the resolution of that ticket as well as keeping a history of all support requests by that customer.

Since you all are some well known hosters out here, perhaps you've seen something along these lines.

I am just starting out in hosting, so expenses have to be watched at the moment since we're only host a few clients at the moment and still losing money every month.

Thanks

Event hough I don't know any specific script, I beleive that it can easily be found in perl or PHP. By the way, CGI-WRAP should run any normally constitued script, as long as the owner of the scruipt uploaded all the files it needs to manipulate, set all the correct file permission.

Thanks, the places I have looked are
hotscripts.com cgi-resources.com sourceforge, devshed and a few others. The one that I came up with is simple enough, called web support, but on their blurb page, it states that it will NOT run on a cobalt raq server, it doesnt' go to explain why it wont, but their support forums suggest that it has something to do with cgiwrap. The url to a script for that support would be something like
index.cgi/new but when you try this on a cobalt raq the script tells you that it's being illegally called, so that ones out of the question. Help appreciated and noted.

We are looking for something similar (But not that will run on a Raq specifically) there really doesn't seem to be anything of real quality at an affordable price, or that is really easy to customise. Guess it's time to whip up something of our own to do the job.

Hi KDAWebServices,
If you whip up something on your own, would you be interested in selling it to us to use? I started on my own cgi set of scripts last night to accomplish this with a preset standard set of scripts that I use for almost everything that we do, but got to a point where I went, oops, it doesn't allow for responses to stay with the original post, so all it amounted to was a system whereby a user could login to our mysql database, and see a list of messages that they have received from us, but not showing the complete initial tech support question with our answer. Now that I think about it, this still might work, if I remove the "delete message" button and make sure to quote their initial message this should work, then they can login to the mysql server, and see all the responses that we have sent to them, as long as we make sure to keep the same subject and quote their initial question they should have a history of their tech support requests. The real downfall would be that we have not yet built in a way for them to reply to the reply and keep the message in just one "message" without having to clutter up their mailbox message system with multiple replies to the same info if more than one question is needed. Though a blurb at the bottom of the message could state, please open a new support request if this has not answered your question in regards to this matter.

Hmmm well if you come up with one and are willing to share it or find one out there, please let us know, and if I work out my own setup, I'll send it along to you if you want it, free of charge.

WonderDesk, available at http://www.wonderdesk.com, should do exactly what you're looking for.

Thanks, we did check them out earlier, but found that their price range was too expensive for a company just starting out and being funded by my own pocket.

I quote their prices for anyone thats interested:
WonderDesk Standard
$ 499

WonderDesk Standard (without the "Powered by WonderDesk" logo)
$ 3,499

WonderDesk SQL
$ 1,499

WonderDesk SQL (without the "Powered by WonderDesk" logo)
$ 8,499

$499.00 for their standard, but then if you want to look more professional, you have to pay an additional $3,000 to get rid of their logo? Huh, what's that all about?

Anyway, thanks for the link, but Im still looking for something more along the lines of under $150.00 to handle it. It seems to me that for what Im looking at, I really dont need soemthing quite as elaborate as what they are offering (and they do seem to be quite configurable and elaborate, most of the features that they offer will never be used in our situation), we are only seeking something very simple, logs requests, assigns ticket number, allows us to respond, user and or us can close a request, users account has a history of all requests) and effective

Again, I appreciate your input.

P.S. You could of course get a $55.00 discount off that price by singing up to be an affiliate to sell wonderdesk then go through your own link to purchase it, they state that they give you $55.00 for every purchase that you refer to their site.

This looks like it will do what you want, and it's free. I've never used it though so don't know what it is like.

Well maybe not....the download link doesn't seem to work!

Very cool, that looks like it should work with minor tweaking and mods. Thanks very much for the link stephanie, the downloads are working again over there too, they just take you to a directory listing of the different files.
