Every year, I switch hosts 2+ times, in the search of the 'perfect host'. Each time I switch, I start my research over again from scratch, looking for the best, most reliable company, with the most responsive support, comprehensive web based help/FAQ, response times, and overall value. I've boiled everything down to two companies, both of which I host my two most important sites on, and will never change them unless something dramatic happens. I only 'shop around' for my other miscellaneous sites.
I have often mulled over the idea of starting my own hosting company, even opening a reseller plan at ***** for a short time before the great crash of December 99, but abandoned the idea due the unstability of *****. Yes, I've learned alot since then.
I'm ready to try again, but need a strong reseller/sales person. If you are currently a reseller, and wish to have more control of your server, then we need to talk. I am willing to lease the server, provide technical support/server administration, I would even be willing to purchase an exsisting site/template to get us going, at a NOC that we could both agree with, if you handle the sales.
Need to have a custom package installed on our server? I'll get it. Need someone to call your customers and hold their hand through setting up an SSH connection? I'll call them and make them feel all mushy inside. Want strict control of the server, with only you making any changes? You can have it. BTW, you will be the only one selling accounts off of the server. It's all yours. What if we fill it to capacity? I'll lease another! you can create your own packages, up to what you think the servers can handle.
Am I looking for someone to finance this or contribute financially? No. I will finance the entire thing, and assist in anyway possible.
Why? Because admittedly, I suck at sales. I can sale add-ons, follow-ups, etc, but I am simply in the dark as to how to market it and sell it.
