i need a script which allows me to input news articles (text, sometimes incl. images) which will easily embed new articles on a created page on my website.

so basically, the user will see lots of categories and link titles, click on a title of choice, and be sent to the corresponding html page.

im asking cuz, surely there must be a better way than to create the links and corresponding html pages manually. i can do that, and will resort to that if necessary, but i'd like to know if there's a better way.

Sounds like you should be looking at a content management system. Does your webhost use cPanel with Fantastico? there are plenty to try out there. Other wise look out for PHPNuke, PostNuke, Xoops, Mambo, ermm... there are loads more.

Can anyone recommend a particular CMS system for this application?

I assume you are using PHP. Then mambo, drupal are nice.

BTW: Dont go for Nuke Stuff.
