Ok...
Hypothetically speaking- if someone- perhaps a begrudged employee was to change ALL admin passwords on a win2k box. Is there ANY way to gain access? Is the only option a full format?

You'd probably have to crack the box. Possibly with the aid of using NTFS DOS drivers to read the file system and then load in a modified registry, among other files.

I'm not a Windows guy, so I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that you can boot into the Windows box using a recovery disk, and change the password, without having to reformat.

Of course, any intelligent begrudged employee would change the passwords *and* make sure you're running an encrypted filesystem.
