Hey there,
I am really new to hosting and website, but I'm not technically challenged. I hope there's someone patient enough to give me a kick start. I will definitely be looking through all those posts on this website. (there are alot!!!)
I am looking to host other people's sites for fun and not looking to make money out of it at least in the next 2 years. (I would like to break even at least) I am looking at it as a learning experience.
I do have a few people that I know they want websites for business use or personal use. I am hoping they will transfer to my hosting and I'll help them create their website. Some will be a ecommerce website so I would guess I will definitely need the SSL option unless I use a merchant that provides it?
Right now I am looking into VPS which seems to be better than reseller hosting. Dedicated servers costs too much, over $100/month. Is that a good way to go?
Right now I am looking at ServInt's "Essential VPS Package".
It costs $49 a month. However, Sevint doesn't have any web programs installed onto their server, like PHP and all that stuff. Do I install that myself?
I found another site, through this website which is Hard Hate Hosting.
They have VPS for $60 a month, which is a bit more expensive but they provide alot of features like , python, which I would perfer to have. I would hope there's good hosting for $40 or $50 a month. I definitely don't want a discounted hosting. I really can't tell how to differentiate a discounted hosting to a non-discounted hosting.
What are your thoughts or recommendations for hosting?
Thanks
