Hey there,

this is my first post I have ever done here, but that doesn't matter, I think...

Well, here's my question. I have come across a thread from genius hosting ( http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32762 ). They seem to be pretty good, right? They offer everything I need, in fact.

I've been looking for a long time everywhere on the Net for a good and cheap host (aren't we all?) for my nuke site, and couldn't find one that is attractive and friendly.

These guys seem to have lots of ways to contact them. I think they can be trusted.

What do you think?
I'd really want an objective opinion. Thank you!

Seems they are with Rackshack & using cobalt RAQs for hosting;

01/23/02 19:25:16 ping GENIUS-HOSTING.COM
Ping GENIUS-HOSTING.COM (216.40.225.148)

http://216.40.225.148/ opens a default Cobalt page

I guess a Cobalt RAQ is not the best place to host a nuke based site.

Don't let the words cobalt or cobaltrack scare you away from hosting with them. Cobalts can handle light to medium traffic sites and if tuned well they handle 150 or so sites well. I have never been able to get much more on them than that. They didn't mention that they had php, you might want to check to verify that it is installed on their system to prevent headaches.

Ask them if they have some sort of control panel beyond cobalts if you plan on wanting to add databases on the fly. Other than that the default cobalt CP is find for most needs. Good luck.

Sorry for a dumb question but... What's a nuke based site?

All portal systems, there's dozens of them, check out www.hotscripts.com for a good listing.

Why someone ask? Well, a nuke based site is typically processor intensive and uses mysql a lot.

So, while a RAQ could be more than enough to host a nuke site, it depends on how many sites the host have on the box. If they do monitoring and do not allow more sites when CPU usage goes over a certain limit ( instead of having a hard limit of max say 150 sites ) then it is no problem.
