I recently had a bad experience with the hosting over at Lanset.net... Here's the lowdown on what happened.
I saw that their plans offer "unlimited data transfer" yet I know this is clearly not possible so I call up tech support and give them the logistics of my site (bandwidth usage, type, etc.). The customer support person tells me that my site would be fine on the e-commerce plans and tells me it's fine. All of this happens as I find a new host bcause my site is currently down due to using excessive bandwidth.
Anyways, a few days after I sign up for Lanset's plan I wonder when my account is going to be ready. I get on their live chat and ask someone and they notify me that they like to view the people's websites to see if they fit the plan and tell me that they haven't been able to view mine due to the error message. They then start to re-question me about the bandwidth usage and I tell them on average 7-14 GB a month. AFTER signing up for an account they then notify me that the e-commerce account will not be able to accomodate my site and I will need to sign up for a dedicated server.
At this point I nearly explode. $28 is a bit different from $329 a month and I refuse to upgrade. It wouldn't have eben so bad had the customer support person not lied to me over the PHONE. After lengthy arguments they tell me the policy of unlimited data transfer is true but unlimited BANDWIDTH isn't (so exactly how can you use one without the other again?). I refute with the reason that bandwidth usage is nowhere to be found on the website and they agree and say they will fix it. To sum up I had them cancel all my information and made threats to report them to the Better ubsiness Bureau because their actions were illegal (luring me in with promises that it would work then telling me I needed to upgrade AFTER I signed up). So if you plan on going with Lanset.net, beware!
