basically, was a bitch to get thru the install.. but it did finally work or i think :). I have some basic access issues, meaning i cannot get to certain parts or then they do not look like shadm's doc's..

For anyone who wants to give it a try Shadm CP:

http://shadm.hostmentor.com/

lets help him iron out the bugs :)

could be me.. here they are --
The documentation states that certain things should work or be there like :
4 User control panel-- http://<MAINSITE>:8080/controlpanel
I do not nor cannot view this above page :p

as well as the file manager does not show/work.

You/I can access the control panel thru:
http://www.mytestsite.com/shadm/controlpanel/serveradmin/

Also http://www.mytestsite.com/shadm/ is an open directory which can be viewed by anyone.. so there is a phpinfo() there .. possible security issue?

will come up with more questions and ad to this thread if others are interested..
ciao

shadm is my product and basically I can see you do not have the latest version installed. What you seems to be the very first beta, which I tried to have running on port 8080, but that did not work out very good.

Netscape (on a Sun Solaris box) crashes when I try to access the shadm.hostmentor site - what features did you add? And under what license is it published?

It is out of beta and now released as a commercial product. Per server one-time fee.

Basically it is easier to install, and stuff like subdomains, custom error docs, pw protected dirs has been added since beta 2.

I'm going to (attempt) install shadm on my Raq4 later. Hopefully everything will go ok.

What I like about it is that you can try it out /before/ you pay which is really helpful!

Does your control panel violate the Cobalt Waranty?

It works in conjunction with it, so it does NOT break the Cobalt GUI - a site added in shadm is added ( and can be managed ) through regular cp as well.

If it actually violates the warranty - well to be honest I don't know. Does changing the httpd.conf/DNS files by not going through the GUI break the warranty - then yes.

O.K.

Got to step 3 on the installation. When I go to: http://<MAINSITE>/test/phpinfo.php it doesn't work ? So I go to: http://<MAINSITE>/shadm/test/phpinfo.php and it prompts me to download the php file ??? Yelp!

heh :) well with the word.doc that was on your site for dl it did state all those 8080 instances.. i'm not sure thats what i installed. But thats the documentation aside from the install.txt
site.com:8080 gives me a error page..

just1post -- do you have php set up as a viewable page extension? in i ?THink httpd.conf?

as far as the cp, there are other issues that i ran into and documented , but i'm at work right now.

Go into Cobalt CP and enable PHP for the main site.

word.doc

Sorry about that. That word document should NOT be used. I have a new version of it, but I have never heard anyone using it at all so I have kinda forgotten to upload the new version.
install.txt is what should be used ...
