How does a Netra and a P3 1.26Ghz both with 1GB ram, and 2x40Gig IDE Drives stack up in performance with apache and mysql? Any experience with the suns, or benchmarks available?

Thanks

I don't know, but if I were you, I would choose P3 over Sun. It is a lot more cost effective.

The Sun Netras are not that expensive, $1k for the base spec, then just add your normal decent brand ram and hard disk in to boost the spec.

heh... i'd choose the sun box... my netra x1s run sweet, never had ANY downtime... i've got a friend that does 1200GB/month of HTML/JPG serving off his 40Mhz sun box... yeah, u heard me right... 40Mhz... and the site actually runs fast... I'll post the URL when I find it... most of his stuff are porn galleries (posted in TGPs)... hehe...

I would venture to say that the reason to go with Sun would be for reliability. Sun is rock-solid. As long as it's SCSI.

You'll need to look at the exact application/load to get the benchmarks.
