How does a Netra and a P3 1.26Ghz both with 1GB ram, and 2x40Gig IDE Drives stack up in performance with apache and mysql? Any experience with the suns, or benchmarks available?

KDAWebServices 01-23-2002, 01:05 PM The Sun Netras are not that expensive, $1k for the base spec, then just add your normal decent brand ram and hard disk in to boost the spec. thecoolh 01-23-2002, 11:00 PM heh... i'd choose the sun box... my netra x1s run sweet, never had ANY downtime... i've got a friend that does 1200GB/month of HTML/JPG serving off his 40Mhz sun box... yeah, u heard me right... 40Mhz... and the site actually runs fast... I'll post the URL when I find it... most of his stuff are porn galleries (posted in TGPs)... hehe... urk5 01-24-2002, 12:48 AM I would venture to say that the reason to go with Sun would be for reliability. Sun is rock-solid. As long as it's SCSI. You'll need to look at the exact application/load to get the benchmarks. |
