Hi all,

Looking for a datacenter that could cluster 6+ dedicated servers, 20+ terrabytes downstream per month, serve 10+ megabytes per second at peak times... can anyone suggest a reliable center?

Thanks,

Proactive

most of your more well known data centers on here will be able to handle that - what will depend is what kind of clustering will you be running on what platforms and are you supporting it or will you require the chosen data center to support it and if so what level of support are you expecting.

maybe if you can give a little more information we can make some more informed recommendations.

one off the top of my head is rusko on the cluster side.

The bigger DCs will work with you on that, but they won't bother posting it on thier site. Very few people need that kind of setup.

You can check on ethr.net and simpli.biz, they do pretty much customization.

When searching for your hosting company, keep in mind that the challenging part of your operation is the clustering / load balancing; not carrying 10Mb/s of traffic. You should probably specify what type of clustering you are looking for. HTTP load balancing is pretty simple. If you also need a network filesystem or NAS device setup for you; clustered SQL server; and/or other, more complex, features, you should be sure to mention all those things when you inquire with hosting companies.

I think he meant 100 megabits of ip traffic constant. 10 megabytes of data is 80 megabits of data and the 20% ip over head basically rounds it to about 100 mbps.

I have worked on similar clusters with Servint. Their pricing has always been competitive and the quality is second to none.

You may want to put some contact information either into your profile or into your post, as since you have less then 5 posts your Private messaging is disabled, and your email is disabled.

Perhaps you are right. In any case, none of the large hosting companies represented on WHT will have any trouble carrying his traffic.

I think Voxel.net offers a managed cluster solution at reasonable pricing too and last time I contacted them, they can combine it with their VoxRox.com server offerings.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the information.

The servers need to be Linux based.

At peak times we are use over 10 megabytes per second.

Thanks,

Proactive

10 Mbps is not a huge traffic and I don't think you'll need a cluster for that. Just a single server powerful enough (Dual Xeon with SCSI) should do the job.

See sailor's post. 10 MBytes ( = 80 Mbit), not 10 Mbps. It's not File Planet huge, but he'll be in the top 10% of pretty much any DC.

Personally it sounds like you are looking for more of a managed solution. I'm sure their is a couple people ready to pounce on you for business, so my best suggestion would be to add some contact info still.

Also, do you need 10 Megabytes or 10 Megabits?
