I recently delved into majordomo on a RAQ 4 trying to get a mailing list aliases off of the admin account. I found out that you can edit the alias file, located at

/etc/mail/aliases.majordomo

to change the aliases for any site or list. After you edit that, or any other alias file, you need to run

/usr/bin/newaliases

to get the changes to take place. I don't think that the GUI changes anything in this file unless it is for a site/list being added/removed. I currently have changed one site to a site administrator, myself, instead of admin and have run into no problems.

Anyone else ever do this?

Just to add to the above, the aliases do not transfer over to new mailing lists created. I would assume that the admin GUI would have to be changed to do that.

I've done the same thing. I've even gone farther than that, in order to set up one way mailing lists using the watered down majordomo that comes on the cobalts. No problems.

I had already set up one mailing list for subscriptions, auto-header, auto-footer, "only from this list" posting, and a couple other things. Now I also get notifications of subscribe/unsubscribe.
