Hi all,
I am currently looking for a Dedicated Managed Hosting to host my service that would go into Beta within the end of the month. I tried using "Host Quote" but am getting Quotes from Malaysia and a company that started on September 1, 2004 among others. Not to say that it doesn't work but i would prefer something that both in U.S. and has a longer established business.
A brief description of the service.
It is an online address book service that uses SyncML synchronization mainly targeting SyncML compliant Mobile Phones. Packages normally won't exceed 10,000 bytes, the average is around 3,000 bytes. Users can also manage their account through the webpage so that should be in the bandwidth calculation.
If the target evaluating members are reached then i would start writing client software for non-SyncML phones to support them. Download is require and that increases BW usage but this is future development.
Since i am a Programmer and not a System Admin, i would prefer that i do not need to personally do secure, manage, backup the server. It stores private informatin, so security is very important.
Requirements for my service
1. Debian Stable
2. SSL (i haven't bought any certification yet but i would want one that own their own root)
3. PHP, PostgreSQL, Python, Apache (Zend optimizer would be great)
4. Backup Service is a MUST!!!
5. Server should be in U.S.
6. Monthly fee should not exceed $250 and Setup fee should not exceed $50
7. Negligible Downtime
8. CPU that is 2.5 GHz and up
9. at least 1G Ram
10. 100 GB HDD (i think this is enough but i am planning to put up a forum too, so what you think?)
11. Firewall is a must if it is not with the router.
12. 500 GB B/W per month (i don't think i need this much, since all packages are small)
13. Hosting company should be in business for at least 3 years
14. cPanel
15. Ports required to be open should be 80 (Web), 22 (SSH) and any secure Web Admin like 10000 for Webmin.
What other things do you think i would require to put in as a specification to narrow down to a good hosting campany?
Give me your advise! and please add to the list of requirement if i miss anything.
I would try Host Quote again when you help me fix up the requirement so i won't get any foreign hosting companies.
