View Full Version : 15minuteserver support
gmoney3 10-06-2004, 09:45 AM I was sitting at my computer, and all of a sudden i see my thing on bottom of screen light up, and i have new e-mail. It was the special email account that i only use for dedicated account stuff. So i look at the Inbox and its from 15minuteservers. I open it up and it says..
From: Alan Rossy @ Net Access Corporation
we are unable to ping ip XXX.XXX.X.XXX, is this expected?
Now, i was just on the box about 10 minutes before doing a couple things and i had closed the SecureCRT session, so i wouldnt ahve noticed the box was down. Not that its a big deal, but a company that immediately sends me email as soon as my box is unpingable to me is exactly the kind of support that makes me feel good. I cant say enough great stuff about 15minuteservers. Their network is GREAT. They always answer my tickets within 2-10 minutes. Their prices are great for the level of support and the network they provide. Ive had my box with them for about 3 months now, and i really love their service.
Thank you,
gmoney3@gmail.com
GideonX 10-06-2004, 10:20 AM NAC techs are real good at what they do, we like them too :)
geeks4help 10-06-2004, 10:45 AM One of my clients has a box with 15minuteservers. He is very satisfied about their service.
Dedicated 10-06-2004, 11:11 AM I will try them as my current provider take's a few hours which I will post about them when I move my domains.
gmoney3 10-06-2004, 11:17 AM you wont be disappointed, at least i hope not:) Their network is great and their support is great. They even have a great control thing, where you can set your own rdns , no need to send in a ticket to have them set it for you.
CactusCounty 10-06-2004, 11:19 AM I've been a 15minuteserver/NAC customer since early June and with the exception of one billing error (which Alex attended to immediately) I've had no problems at all. The server's been up since it went online and has had a total of ten minutes of network hiccups in four months.
Support is fast, friendly and thorough. Not one single complaint here.
Rating so far, as of four months: 9.9 out of 10.
Dedicated 10-06-2004, 11:41 AM I have just ordered a server ;)
jheslop1 10-06-2004, 12:22 PM I'm in love with NAC, they are so friendly and understanding, they inform you when your pushing more transfer as normal and make sure everythings fine :D
nuclear 10-06-2004, 12:49 PM I've been with them since Feb. Absolutely great...seems to be the web's little secret. Hopefully they will not grow too big for their own good because their support/network is superb as it is.
phactor 10-06-2004, 02:11 PM now if they had cpanel that would be great!
jheslop1 10-06-2004, 03:19 PM Just buy a external cPanel license?

I dont think that will be a problem. We moved to them when Hurricane Isabel came in 09/2003 when we found out that our old NOC did not have backup power.
We have only had 28 minutes of down time in just over a year. Everyone in the NOC is great and do get calls from them just to say "hello...Everything ok? Do you need anything" They took care of us and once we went with NAC, we never looked back!...;)
Sorry Alex...Couldn't resist ..:D
elite-forces 10-07-2004, 09:05 AM What if my machine is compromised or attacked?
In all security matters, the machine is your responsibility. Read the fine print, They will hold you responsible for someone elses actions, And possibly even make you pay for it.

And that's different from 99.97% of the rest of the providers how?
You are responsible for securing and managing your server, that's the nature of the beast.

Anytime we have a DOS, NAC has /dev/null the attacker and has never cost us dime.
Sposs 10-07-2004, 09:35 AM I think thats the norm for most companies an e-mail and sms message as soon as your machine goes down.
RossH 10-07-2004, 09:40 AM Been a NAC/15minuteservers customer for almost 6 months now, I must say this is one of the best servers I have ever had.
gmoney3 10-07-2004, 10:27 AM sposs, you said thats the norm that most companies send you email as soon as your box goes down? Maybe on the expensive managed companies, but the companies where the boxes are very low/competitive prices you usually do not see service like that. As as matter of fact, ive never seen it one time, BUT, i never have had a managed box or one from a very expensive company
robgct 10-07-2004, 06:19 PM got to love NAC, esp the CustomerCare section :) Reinstalls only $5.00 as well.

It SHOULD BE, especially since IMHO it's not an expensive value-added service to offer, but sadly a lot of budget providers (read: places that charge what 15minuteserver does) do not offer this service.
Will 15minuteservers let you put in a plan of action if your server does go down, such as telling them to powercycle or reboot if necessary?
myleow 10-08-2004, 03:10 AM It is not difficult to write a program to send out email or SMS when you server is down.
Since alot of the companies uses Ping to see if your server is still alive or not. You just write the program that runs ping to react when ping returns cannot reach host, when this occurs query the customer DB list for that server owner's email and send the preformatted email.
For SMS you can avoid incurring SMS charges by using any of the SMSC from US Wireless Carriers, invoke a POST TCP packet to their form and bam, they send out your SMS message for you.
Not that difficult to write, don't know why they don't implement such an automated system. Would increase customer satisfaction and don't even increase expenditure.
Regards
Mian

You don't need to bump a month old thread.
