Hi, I am running a newly borned web hosting company. Have been setting up my mind to have a couple of dedicated boxes. Have searched around the web and found two cheap service providers.

1) *******.com
2) escaladenet.com

I am getting AMD athlon 950 MHz + 40 Gig Hard, 256 MB RAM, 20 Gig bandwidth with $110 per month and $150 setup in two installements from *******

and

AMD 850 MHz + 40 Gig Hard, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB bandwisth with $99.95 per month with a setup fee of $150 in three installements.

Now, I need advice from you ppl, which host will be good. ******* seems to be directly connected with verio and escaladenet seems to be connected via ALTER.net

I think that I will surely get something better with that price. All I need is more bandwidth. Rackshack is providing AMD with $99 but the setup fee is too high.

Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with either host you mention. However, two concerns over the specs you have provided. First, I would definitely upgrade the memory-256 MB just isn't enough for more than a very small amount of processing. I wouldn't even buy a home computer with than little. Second, 20 GB bandwidth will not be enough once you get some clients. So, to compare prices, you better look at long term bandwidth projections and costs.

Read up in these forums on *******. I have been interesting in them myself, but know they have had some trouble with their capacity. Something about an upgrade this month crosses my mind.

I wouldn't say this at all. We have a AMD 300 with 100 sites using only 128 RAM. It has been up for 129 days and it is well over 99.9% uptime. While more is always best, if you want to save money which I assume you do since you are looking at these host, try out 256 first.

Bandwidth depends. We have servers with a few hundred sites pushing only 30 GBs of total bandwidth. However it is good advice to plan for long-term bandwidth growth.

Well, Its seems no one had experience with both of the companies I mentioned. Anyway, after digging through WHT I found this company http://www.webauthorities.com/wa-dedicated.html Thay are providing fair amount of bandwidth in justr $100. The only problem with them is that thay don't have theoir own NOC.

So, if the server goes down, I have to wait for them to goto the colocation center and get the server up by hand.

Still waiting for anyone to get me a good offer.
