I've been reading with interest the threads about the various reseller hosts (MCHost, SplashHost, Voxtreme etc.) as I intend to get myself set up with an account soon to resell space to my web development customers. However, I was hoping I could get set up with a host whose servers are located in the UK as most of my customers are british and have .co.uk's.
Does anyone know of a similar UK-based service or does it really not matter? UK hosts seem to be so much more expensive!!!
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks! :D

I don't think it makes any difference!
I'm in the UK and all my sites are on US servers simply because it a hell of a lot cheaper.
I think the UK hosting industry is still very young and as usual the US are a few years ahead.

Ain't that always the way? ;)
Thanks for the reply - am pretty new to the hosting side of things hence my questions. I am assuming that there's no problem hosting .co.uk's on US servers? What about setting up your DNS servers on a .co.uk... will these suppliers (MChost etc) do that?
Ta! :D

Yeah these suppliers can do that for you with out any problems. The trickier bit is getting your domain register to set up the name servers, ukreg.com dont have a control panel where you can create name servers for .co.uk domains. I dont know about the others.

The difference is bandwidth ...
In the UK its expensive .. in the US its cheap ..
The average data-transfer price is 2p per MB over limit .. and average connection is 2mbit to 8mbit

If ukreg.com let you change the name servers for a .co.uk domain then they let you create name servers on it, all that needs to be done to create name servers on a .uk domain is to set the name servers to the ones you want creatingon the domain. So if I wanted ns.mydomain.co.uk and ns2.mydomain.co.uk I would set the name servers for mydomain.co.uk to:
ns.mydomain.co.uk
ns2.mydomain.co.uk
You also need to supply the IP addresses for the name servers too.
If you look around bandwidth in the UK is not all that expensive, it's just people like WebFusion that like to charge 2p per Mb overages.
