The more web sites that link to your site the better. Also, you should make sure you have the keyword "nba discussion" in your meta tags, title, and somewhere in the body. geesh.net 10-05-2004, 01:54 AM There are many things you can do. First off, give your users a reason to come back to your site. With vB, you can add an arcade and weather forecasts. Also, I have started using an Article-bot on one vB forum, which is getting the forum indexed in google for tons of different articles. Get some links from a site that is indexed in google, and exchange links with similar sites as yours. Buy text links on other nba-related sites if you feel you'll benefit from the traffic. madeonmoon 10-05-2004, 10:27 PM why not ask your forum users for a) to spread the word b) ideas on how to make *their* community grow best, james EagleImagery 10-06-2004, 10:26 AM I have my website's URL printed on the ceiling above every computer workstation in the world. I get a good return on that advertising. :) (please don't tell me you actually looked... ;)) bambambam 10-06-2004, 10:43 PM Check www.promotionworld.com plenty of information plus 12 free tools, some of them very useful. Their Keyword Generator for example will generate the most relevant keywords and will create metatags for your web site(s). Just copy and paste the metatags in your web site(s) and you are ready to go. Need to check the status? Another tool will report the rank of your web site for multiple keywords. zoza69 10-08-2004, 04:09 AM Originally posted by bambambam Check www.promotionworld.com plenty of information plus 12 free tools, some of them very useful. MightyAphrodite 10-08-2004, 01:16 PM You all are a great help. I just started my forum and I have no idea how to promote. Thanks for the tips. Why don't you tell us the secrect?? :) JoshPigford 10-10-2004, 01:08 AM Promotion is completely relative. You're not gonna promote an NBA community website the same way you'd promote a site that sells kitchen supplies. Community popularity thrives on just that...a community...a community of people who spread the word themselves. You need to tell EVERYONE about your site and ask them to post. One idea that has worked for me in the past is to give away a gift certificate or something of the sort to the person who refers the most new members. Try to get a few links from some other sports sites even if it means you have to pay for a link. I would be well worth your money if you're serious about your site. XboxEvolved 10-10-2004, 09:46 PM It all comes down to the oldest thing of them all: word of mouth. Sure you could spend money to get the word out, but then those people who see the ad and go there then tell those people. I would also try to affiliate with other sports sites, maybe ask webmasters of other sports sites if they would plug you if you plugged them, it's all kinds of stuff. swee 10-11-2004, 04:50 AM Hi all, What i think was Metatag is not very useful for the trend now isn't it? Its more of "exchanging Links" or add websites in directories. Guess you VRonline, you should exchange links with related sites and get yourself added in directories. Hope this help Swee |
