I currently have a Windows based webserver and am considering updating too a Raq4. Currently I host several domains and email for each domain. When a user checks there email via Pop3 they must use there entire email address as the username. Will this work the same with the Raq4? I want it to work the same so I do not need to alter everyones email setup. I have seen some other email servers that replace the @ with a % in the username.
thanks

Well, unless the username is 'name@domain.com' you wouldn't check pop with this, rather you'd just use 'name'.
But my user name will be "user@domain.com". I also have another user with a username of "user@nxdomain.com".

:-) if you try to use the e-mail addresses as usernames they will be too long to be used as valid usernames on a Cobalt..

Append the site number to the every user name, ala
sales01
sales13
and give each the alias sales - problem solved. Yes, different login ID than email address, but small price to pay.

Hey, thats clever, I like it. I still would rather use the complete email address but I guess that won't happen unless I roll my own server with linux or something.
Thanks

Why are you giving up a Windows server and going to a RaQ? That's like going from a BMW X5 to a Dodge Stratus! (well, thats kinda drastic but you get my point) I'd much rather have a Windows Server than my RaQ....
Wanna trade?
But what you're looking for is the ability to have different password files for each site.... Something I haven't accomplished in my RaQ yet.

I am just using Win2000 standard and sambar.com for a web/email server. It allows you to use the complete email address as the user name. I want multiple domains which can be managed by other users. Basically I am a small wireless ISP and some of my users want webhosting now and I want to do it with the least effort on my part.

You wouldn't happen to be setting up shop in central Texas would you?
