View Full Version : Contest: $500 for a logo.
elusive 01-21-2002, 09:26 PM Seeing many good graphic designer on here, I thought I would like to share a good professional logo contest I stumbled across to you guys.
A big production company (Syndicates Picture) is offering half a grand to anyone who can design a logo for them. The contest is now open and the deadline is in April, so there's a plently of time to get your creative juices flowing. Check out http://www.syndicatepictures.com/newlogo/ for the details. There are samples of logo entries, and they look very stunning. For $500, that's a lot of money. Unfortunately, I'm not that artisitc.
imago-allan 01-21-2002, 09:40 PM Thanks for this information elusive. Here is the downside of it:
"MONEY: Money will be paid from our company, Syndicate Pictures, at US $500. Money will be paid on or before May 1, 2002. If you are not a US citizen, we can only pay through PayPal, so if you wish to recieve the payment, you must have a valid paypal account."
Why? We don't have a PayPal account. Our country is not covered by PayPal service. I've been requesting PayPal to consider our country in their service for almost a year now and still haven't got any good response! Oh boy.
Got suggestions?
We really love to enter the contest. I mean it will be our artist's great challenge.
:)

imago-allan 01-21-2002, 10:03 PM Hello.
I don't know if they allow that kind of arrangement. I have emailed them about our situation and hope they will respond favorably.
Your proposal is a nice alternative. You can send the 80% to us
by paying through our Clickbank link later. We will definitely contact you if this is fine with the contest organizers. Thanks for the offer.

I am excited with the contest. Our artists are excited too!
But, we will begin working with the contest entry after the logo promo. It will be at the time when all logo design requests have been fulfilled. So, why don't you guys order this early so that there will be NO rush for us. Ok?

why on earth is that contest running for 3 months? shouldn't take that long to create a logo :)
imago-allan 01-23-2002, 06:58 AM NicoV,
I am afraid I may have to disagree. The logo is a crucial aspect of a company's business. The design of a logo should be carefully thought out. Sometimes (if not most of the time), the success of a company lies on its own logo.
The logo projects the corporate image and the branding that the company would like to portray. The logo should be able to depict that.
Besides, you have also to understand how artists work. They design not solely for money but most especially they want to express their art. :) Give them time to bring out their natural creativity and you will get an excellent logo!
For instance some of you may wonder why it is taking us too long to do the logo. After all, it is only $20 (promo price). I have to tell you that we do not care how much you pay. What we want is we deliver what you deserve -- the best that we can produce! There should be no room for comparing the promo and the regular price. What is at stake is the name of our company. A little patience will be appreciated.
:)

BrianF 01-23-2002, 02:43 PM or Compaq, Dell, HP, Klipsch...
imago-allan 01-23-2002, 02:48 PM The companies you mentioned have simple but effective logos that rightfully project the correct branding. Somehow the logo played a significant role. But, I do not say that it depends solely on the logo, otherwise it will be ironic.
Naturally, there are several factors to a success of a company:) And creating/developing the right corporate image is one of those.
Excellent customer support, hi-quality product/services, etc... those are other factors.
:)
benoire 01-23-2002, 02:55 PM A company's first impressions do count for a lot, however, especially a company which isn't a household name like the ones mentioned - they need to attract the customer's eye and entice them to look deeper.
Having said that, they need to be strong behind the scenes as well, but with a poor image, people might not investigate long enough to discover this.
imago-allan 01-23-2002, 03:02 PM sessionmedia,
Elusive is not conducting the contest (in case you misunderstood the posting). The people who run the contest are from Syndicate Pictures. Here is the website again:
Syndicate Pictures Logo Contest (http://www.syndicatepictures.com/newlogo/ )
They said they are going to update that link next week or so and advises everyone interested to keep visiting it for updates.

What was Microsoft's success based on? Not their operating systems I presume. :)
sessionmedia_070907 01-23-2002, 06:31 PM Oh, thank you for clearing that up for me.
;)

AndyBa 01-24-2002, 01:28 AM I just don't understand how a multimedia Company can't develop there logo independently? :)
elusive 01-24-2002, 11:38 PM They want a really good "perfect" design and offering anyone who can design a really excellent logo for them, so they not limiting it to just their own designer I guess.
benoire 01-24-2002, 11:49 PM When you want to buy a new computer, for example, you look around until you find the best value deal - even if you know people who work in the industry and might be able to get you a discount - it might still be better to buy elsewhere. Its about getting the best you can, and you can't do that without investigating all possible options - the winning logo might involve something which is their designer's weak point for example, and had they not opened up the design to all and sundry, they would never have got that.
imago-allan 04-13-2002, 10:21 PM Hey guys,
I think the deadline is tomorrow (at least on our end).
Try to catch up with the contest. :)
