What is the best place to advertise? What are a few ad words you have used and what were the results?
I am trying to juggle cost versus payment and new clients.
Google worth the price? Anyone get any good or secret deals they wanna share?
Thanks.

phpjames:
I would try some of the following sites. Google is always a great option, I love Adwords!
Ad Networks
Burst
ValueClick
FastClick
DoubleClick
AdTegrity
Hosting Directories
FindSP
TopHosts
WebHostDir
HostRecord
HostReview
My Sites (moderators, remove if you feel its crossing a line.)
dkAds
HostingCatalog
Simple add a .Com or .Net to the end of those to visit their respective sites.

The use of pay-per-click resources may be another route for you to examine, including Overture.com & epilot.com.

Overture is a big rip off.
For PPC engines, go to one of the following:
www.Sprinks.com
www.FindWhat.com
www.goClick.com
Overture's bids are just *to* high. Then again, if you want your results a guaranteed spot on Yahoo's top 3 listings for your search term, Overture is the way to go... Just 10 dollars a click.

[we have] advertised on google's adword and we have had a good response.
The key to the success is to be very specific with your phrases for example phrases such as "online website builder" "Website Creator" and so on.
We also have had good success with PPC (pay per click).
Again the method here is to at least get into the top 5 listing.
The number one spot could be 10 cents a click but number 5 may be only 1 cent.
We have also opted into banner share schemes and are currently having aprox 7000 - 10000 banner displays at other sites per day.
The best form of advertising is the good old fashioned "word of mouth"
We have only been live for 2.5 week and have already signed up over 1500 customers from a spending of approx $170. This number is growing rapidly by the day.
Looking forward to the critical mass ...... LOL

Webinfo,
What specifically were your ADWORDS? Sounds like you spent a total of 170$ for tons of hits/signups. Your service is free correct?
What ADWORDS would you suggest for a webhost that charges?
