From Reseller To A Dedicated Server..... How long did it take from the time you started a reseller to switch to a dedicated server? What knowledge was required, what other things were required? How did you know that "Yes, now its time for me to move to a reseller!". Did you hire techs to help you? Were your servers managed? Where were they from? Talk about your transformation from a Reseller to a Dedicated Server in detail here. :) Relive those golden moments when you got your very first server! :)

If you are an httpme.com client, then you can "upgrade" to their fully managed dedicated server. This will effectively be the same thing as a giant reseller account on your own server.

They still handle all the "server stuff", and you just worry about getting customers. No need to deal with server admin, or anything else.

Now, as far as "when" to move to a dedicated.. this depends on a few things. Can you afford it? Why do you need/want it? If you are looking for increased reliability then it might be beneficial. However, if you only have 10 clients then it might not be a wise decision (unless your clients pay $100 each).

You should also do a lot of research into WHERE your dedicated server will be located. Can you go see it if you wanted? Does your supplier have direct physical contact with to it? (Or can they only call some datacenter tech to hit a reboot switch, etc..) Do they own the hardware or do they lease it fro someone else? Etc...

I hope this is helpful. If you are not a "technical" person, or even if you simply prefer to stay out of the technical area, then something like what httpme.com offers can be very useful and still allow your company to grow beyond a "normal" reseller account.

When you factor in the cost of hiring your own server admins, and the stress of managing/worrying about things... it makes a lot of sense to just use a reliable company that has a proven record for providing reseller accounts... to also manage your dedicated servers.
