So in a thread a while back I talked about how www.aplus.net called me when I registerd a domain. Well I guess they got into trouble for it because I recieved no calls for a while (they also got in trouble for sticking links to their website in their customers websites).

A couple of days ago I registerd about 50 domains. Behold I get a call (on my cell phone, which is illegal for them to call and try to sell me something) about a week afterwards trying to sell me web hosting (they get your number by looking at newly registerd domain in the databases). This time I'm more then annoyed.

I went to the FTC and filed a complaint:

https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

I ask if you guys get these calls you do the same and file a complaint, maybe we can atleast get them fined for this atrocious behavior.

Tell me about it...

I got a call from them earlier today on my cell phone too and they left me a voice mail.. though i did not provide them with my # or anything.. I just simply wanted a quote and provided them with my email to send the quote to..

I have also gotten a few calls from them when I registered a new domain. Very annoying.

Then you all need to file a complaint also, lets get this stopped.

Hey, someone that actually does something about the problem for a change :D AND, action was taken before bringing it to WHT and starting a thread.

Bravo, Sir.

I just registered a few domains recently...hopefully they won't bother calling me as I would certainly take the same action.

Got a response from the FTC today:

Re: FTC Ref. No. 5078806

Dear Ross Hosman:

Thank you for your correspondence detailing your experiences with an alleged incident of telemarketing fraud. However, correspondence from consumers provide valuable information that is frequently used to develop or support Commission enforcement initiatives.

Your information was reviewed by Commission staff and pertinent information has been recorded in the Consumer Sentinel, the FTC fraud complaint system database. Information that you provide is shared with other law enforcement agencies.

At some time in the future, you may be contacted by either the Commission, or another law enforcement agency interested in pursuing the subject of your complaint.
