Hi guys... just a quick question. Is it possible to point a domain name to a particular directory in a users account using Web Host Manager?

Any help appreciated.

This feature is available through WHM, though whether or not it is setup on your WHM, I cannont tell you. :)

On the left-hand navigation bar, look for an option to "Park or point a domain". Click this. On the right side of the page, a form with two fields and a submit button will show up. The first field asks where you would like to park. Do this in the form of: subdomain.domain.tld . The next field asks for the domain you are parking. Type this in. Then, click the submit button.

If you are a reseller, your hosting company may or may not have this feature enabled for resellers. If not, you can ask, but that doesn't mean they will want to turn it on. (And, there are quite a few reasons for them to /not/ turn it on.) Also, depending on the setup, you may or may not be able to park domains on your own account, but only on your resold accounts.

So, like I said at the top, it's possible generically speaking.

Thanks. What I meant was the follwing:

If I had an account with a directory set up as follows:

www.domain.com/user

could I have anything in that directory being displayed in its own domain name...

i.e. the contents of www.domain.com/user

would be displayed in www.domain2.com

I think you were referring to subdomains which is not exactly what I mean...

I have full access to WHM so can park/point domains etc.

Thanks

Gotcha. The only way I know to do this is to park on a subdomain, which means setting up www.domain.com/user to be user.domain.com. A little note, though, when you park a domain on a subdomain, the subdomain stops working as a sub. So, once you park something on user.domain.com, you would no longer be able to browse to user.domain.com - you would have to use domain.com/user.

Because of how WHM parks the domain, I doubt there is an easy way to do this without first creating a subdomain. But, if I'm wrong, I would love to hear it!
