View Full Version : How do you backup your RackShack server?

I'm still thinking about getting a RackShack whitebox server to start learning and put a few sites on. But I'm wondering about backing it up. I recently read a thread here in which headsurfer said:We preserved the drive in question as we now do all restore/ resells, and now all restores as well, for 5 days..
Initially I was thinking of going with one of the servers with 2 40 GB drives and using the second for backup purposes, but if either
1.) someone hacked the server and deleted the data/etc.
2.) or somehow the server was hacked or otherwise exploited and RackShack deleted all the data after only 5 days
using the second hard drive for backup doesn't sound like a good idea, especially if I would ever be away from the computer or sick or ??? for five days or more.

Buying a second server to backup the first is not in my budget. And there's no way on my current connection I could backup the contents of the server on a regular basis. Is there any way to have a good secure server backup without it costing more than the RackShack server itself???
