from personal experience
i have to say
1. they really blow when u need any kind of support
2. when they do bother to respond to an email you send them it usually makes things worse
3. they are rude
just my 2c worth

When I had a server at managed.com their support sucked then too. ;)

Your feelings are pretty typical of other users' around here. Their biggest issues appear to be technical support and network reliability.
I hear that their pre-sales support is wonderful, and that their network speed (when it is up) is pretty fast.
Hopefully they can, and will start, working on their other issues.

What sort of support did you require?

without getting into detail I will just post the facts and my opinion in regard to managed.com....which should be mis-managed.com
i am a past customer....was only a customer for one month. will never be again. this company is the worst i have ever dealt with.
my company had a t1 with its own server. we let the t1 go due to cost. i found managed.com and talked to one of the owners name "John"
I explained my situation and he sold me on using them. a week delay in activation of server....i was given dirty IP's from some spammer and we had no mail. no reverse dns. so mail was being bounced. given new ip's then out of the blue...server goes down for 3 days.
no explanations and no phone calls returned. finally they said we are moving your server...given new ip's again....still no mail and no website. i called and called and submitted ticket after ticket....they would respond with "see ticket number #76885" there were no tickets number like that.
so....take my advice....go anywhere but to managed.com
i dont know how they stay in business...or are even in business.
good luck

Personally, my experience hasn't been too bad with them. I used to rent two ded's with them, but sold the service which was being hosted on the ded's (I think the new owner of the service has, however, switched provider).
Great network and stable servers. Support ticket responses where within an acceptable timeframe, however the replies where quite often undecipherable, more than likely due to the overstretched support team.
If you don't need to encounter support (i.e. take care of most software problems by yourself, and hope your hardware always works), then you'll probably have a good time at managed.com
[Edit]Wow, just noticed this thread was untouched for nearly a year before the post above ;)
I can't believe that someone has good words about this company. If you intend to open hosting services your business absolutely sure will fail. If one of your users send spam, for example, they unplugg server and you must wait up to 7 days to have server online again. The worst company!!! I never will take again a server even it would be free. Maybe for backup purposes only.

On my old managed.com server, someone uploaded a phishing site that went undetected.
Managed did indeed pull the plug, and charged a small reconnection fee (IIRC it was $5-$10). However, once I accepted the fee (by simply replying to an email), the server was back up within 15mins.
I think a lot of this anti-managed.com talk is mainly "newbies" following the crowd, however I guess everyone has different experiences and perceptions.

managed.com just not for "newbies". if you ask them about "how i can setup my email" you may be will have reply but not very quick :)
we have few customer servers (not our own) on managed within around a year and we hadn't great issue with them. for their price they give t o customer enough support and responce time.
What do you talking about guys? Maybe Managed treat clients like first hand and second hand customers.
They unplugged my server without any warning. After more than 24h someone told me the reason but nothing ragarding reconnecting the server. After another 24h they asked for my permission to clean the box. I said ok but nothing. Next reply was, I must pay a $10 reconnection fee and so on. Finally I cancelled the server. I can't believe that someone can work in this manner even the server was disconnected for any reason. No questions like "how i can setup my email" or others ****ty things like that. I just asked for reboots, nothing more. Reboots are made with over 12h average. It's acceptable?
A good company, if issue was solved must reconnect the server in maximum 24h. Over 72h is unaceptable without excuses.
But I repeat I only had a single server there. Maybe customers with many servers have more attention from Managed staff and of course they respond in this case within 15 mins.
