View Full Version : McHost rocks
I'm very new to the reseller game, and I found myself very confused about who to go with, who to trust. I started reading the many threads in this forum about all your opinions of the reseller hosts out there. After some time, I decided to go with McHost.
I just wanted to thank the members of this forum for guiding me in the right direction. I had signed up with someone else (will not name) and just got frustrated with the lack of response in email support. McHost is FANTASTIC for support. I love their ticket system, and they're making the learning process relatively painless.
I am in no way affiliated with McHost. As a customer, I just wanted to give them the kudos they deserve.
Thanks to members of this forum once again...
cdudeuk18 01-20-2002, 08:03 PM Yes MC Host provides amazing services ...
Very good Reseller host ...
keith70 01-20-2002, 09:47 PM Cant say the same...I have not been able to use FP with them for the past four days.
21inchguns 01-21-2002, 01:13 AM I'd have to agree VITO.....
MCHOST are just "That Damn Good"
I hope it stays like that...........
acidHL 01-21-2002, 01:03 PM /me waves a little flag with "MCHost R0x0r" on it. :D
WebSnail.net 01-21-2002, 01:21 PM I have to laugh at this sort of thread cos I can almost guarantee at some point someone is going to go the other extreme with
"MCHost su** the hind t*t off a donkey"...
So, in the interests of some reality here..
Yes, they're good quality, value for money but like other hosts they do have the occassional hiccup that requires more time and effort that perhaps some of their customers would like. Just like other hosts they have problems to sort out like resource hogging scripts, spammers, hardware failure, Datacentre problems, etc...
Let's try not to make them out to be "gods gife to hosting" just yet eh? :)
....if you go in with the attitude that they are absolutely perfect and can never do any wrong I guarantee you will be the one coming back with comments from the other extreme! Unrealistic expectations tend to breed disappointment.
All that said.. what helps with Marc and the crew is that they do try very hard to come up with the goods... and they listen! You could do worse... ;)
acidHL 01-21-2002, 06:53 PM Sorry, its the shock of the jump between Donhost and MCHost :D
Everyday 01-21-2002, 07:09 PM I have to agree with Websnail, we've all seen these posts regarding mchost and splashost.
In my opinion there are plenty of other worth while hosting companies that are just as good of not better. Why not give business to other companies?

My point was more a case of don't get carried away by unrealistic expectations because I've already seen a few people think they'll get miracles and getting disappointed as a result.
The same applies for ANY host that people recommend on this forum as "amazing", "miracle workers", etc... usually ends in tears.
I happen to think MCHost are a bloody good host with good value service and would still heartily recommend them.
I'm not saying McHost is perfect . I got a taste just today of how I would have wanted quicker customer service. I have 5 sites that are down today for 9 hours and counting. It took 6 hours to get the customer service I was looking for. Part of that, in fairness, was that none of my email is working today (due to the problems on my server). So we had to work around that.
I have no illusions about the flawlessness of any host. All I'm saying is that McHost appears , at first glance, to be a great host to deal with. They have good prices, and a good support ticket system in place. I guess only time will tell...
Everyday 01-21-2002, 09:23 PM I understand where everyone is coming from but with the amount of reliable hosts that just frequent this board there are more choices than the "big two" that keep getting mentioned over and over again.
When you only recommend and use mainly only one service you get what we call Microsoft ...give the others a chance. ;)

I might just want to add that not the server is down, but it is a problem with the DNS of those domains that will all become corrected as soon as the DNS cache's are cleared.

I can see your point, but i believe that every company in this industry has the same chance of building a good reputation and large customer base. It takes time, good support and honesty. You cannot expect a 2 month old hosting company to have the same reputation as a company that has been in business for 2 years, just as an example.
WebInterlock 01-21-2002, 09:38 PM Hi there-
What makes MCHost better than viaVerio.com, for example?
Has anyone had experience with the pros/cons of both?
