One domain I am watching for has following confusing whois information.

Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Updated Date: 25-sep-2004
Creation Date: 27-jul-1997
Expiration Date: 26-jul-2009


what's that mean ? it's in redemption period, but why it's going to expire in 2009 ?

strange, check it again and see if it was fixed. Ive seen 1 year added before, but not 5. report it to www.internic.net maybe?

can you tell me expiry date as per registrar record. you can check this from registrar whois website. and i think it may be a case of domain order deleted, i am not sure you can check this with registrar.

Another possibility is the domain name may have been deleted by
mistake. Mistakes do happen, and this does happen once in a blue
moon.

like seen.com was registered til 2006 and dropped last year because of fraud or mistakes
