Hello all,

This is my first post to this forum so forgive me if I overlook any unseen protocols.

I was wondering if anyone could help me locate a rather specific dedicated server account for my needs.

Currently I lease dedicated servers at a couple of places but they are unwilling to go that one step further. I also have posted on another forum elsewhere and as yet have not recieved any worth while results. Just people trying to sell me the products that they have on offer without listening to my requests properly.

I am looking for a dedicated server wich I am able to set up reverse DNS for myself.

I dont want to email "support" and have them add the PTR entry into their name server for me. I am in Australia and I am also impatient. I dont like making a request during my morning time and have it forfilled while I sleep latter that night.

I would much rather have the ability to modify the pointer records myself.

I am not 100% on how reverse DNS works altho I think I have more understanding than most. I am not sure exactly what it would require from my provider for us to achieve these results. I presume that they have to add into their authorative server something that says "for these IP's please go to this other name server".

I dont require heavy process power or memory, a lower end server would do for my purposes for now. I also dont require exotic levels of data transfer at this stage.

Preferably I would like Debian installed on the box or FreeBSD altho any linux/BSD distro would suffice.

I have been hunting for some time and no one has been willing to move from the norm on this for me. If you can help I would be greatly appreaciative

I know nothing about that company, but it appears they provide what you want.

Maybe you are asking the questions wrong? You should ask for a dedicated server and that they "delegate the reverse DNS" to your own DNS servers.

You will need to run your own DNS servers in order to answer the reverse DNS queries.

Check with atjeu. We have few servers with them. wea re able to modify the PTR info directly through the account panel. However I am not sure, if it is automated or someguy sitting down and changing them when I make the request through the control panel. Good luck
