...webawards ?

I just received a Golden Web Award but I don't know what to think about it. Tell me what kind of awards your site received and if you really care. I like to hear your thoughts about this...

Golden WebAwards are 'awarded' to even the worst sites I have seen - many people are aware of this, and think the GWA logo just makes a site look tacky...

These awards are given out like candy. They do look tacky and not exactly something to get to excited about.. :P

Now I could be terribly mistaken, and excuse me if I am, but aren't web awards, seals, etc., more or less just a way to get web masters to place a graphic and link back to the awarder's site?

I'm not saying that all awards are evil in nature, just that some of them are nothing more than link-backs, eh? I guess it depends on who is giving the award out.

Yeah it depends on who the award is from, if i got the WHT best host award i would be happy for years :D

Back in the day ... I mean 1994 before everyone was accessing the internet ... there were a couple of pretty cool awards. Cool Site of the Day, Hot Site of the Day, etc.

The bar was pretty high due to the fact that there were a smaller number of web sites relatively and you only had 365 days in the year.

The newer awards seem to award them in bulk. Oh well.

Now the Cool Site of the Day is just a shill for affiliate marketing:
