View Full Version : PATRIOTS all the way BABY!!!
ProSam 01-20-2002, 02:38 AM YEAH!!! That's my prediction.
After tonights game I have no doubt my boys can make it all the way.
Steelers or Ravens We'll take them on, and take them down the same way. With tough play and holehearted effort.
YEAH BABY!!!
I'm not a big fan of either team but I have to say that ball was a fumble and not an incomplete pass. You caught a very lucky break IMO. :)
If I was a Raiders fan I would be incredibly upset at that ref.
MarcD 01-20-2002, 05:09 AM im not a raiders fan
im a dolphins
but i have to say that game was full of horrible calls
my god that ref had his head so far ---------- ----- ------------
however i dont see the patriots going any further
thewitt 01-20-2002, 10:15 AM People have been calling the Pats out since week 4. "Brady is just a kid. Brady is just lucky. Wait till he realizes he's in the NFL - he'll fold."
These guys can play football - and they play with heart, not egos. Where was Glenn? Oops, don't need him. How many guys carried the football? How many guys caught a pass? How many are there, because Brady uses them all.
When they let Brady throw the football again in the second half, the Pats dominated the game. The Raiders had no chance in the second half, and only scored their one touchdown because their defense picked off a pass and walked it in. Not because their offense was able to move the ball.
A ball dropped to the ground in a forward motion is a forward pass. You don't have to be trying to throw it. Missing your catch hand in a pump-fake is a forward pass. It doesn't matter if a tackler caused you to miss your catch hand or you were simply a spaz. Get over it :).
The much more difficult issue is what to do with Bledsoe. His contract makes him very hard to cut, and with that bloody salary cap, cutting him would actually cost them more money than keeping him.

That's where the debate comes in, other people say the forward pass was done with when he pulled it back in. Then when he was hit it would have been a fumble as there was no pass as he did pull it back in and retained possession. I really only follow the NFC closely so I have no interest in swaying to one side or the other for my viewpoint.
Congrats on the game though, it was definitely a fun one to watch even though I don't care much about the AFC. :)

EXACTLY.
Had it been regular conditions at Foxboro that game would have been dominated by the PATS.
Brady is the real deal. This kid can throw, run when he has to, and he can take a hit. What more can you ask from a QB.
I will admit, the Steelers matchup will be a tough one but I will go with the Pats for one sole reason, Bill Belichick.
This guy is a defensive mastemind. He knows how to adjust to a teams offense even when it looks like their driving, next thing you know their punting. We'll see next week.
Give it up to the PATS.
PS
Wasn't I right about the D-Backs.

DjPaj 01-21-2002, 12:44 AM Didn't think there was a bigger Pats fan then me until I read this post and found that ProSam is competition for the biggest fan!
So ProSam here's a  (Sam Adams of course) to you, and to the the Steelers, here's what's coming to you :uzi: :flamethr:

GREAT another PATS Fan. Can you freakin believe that game? WOW!!!
Hey DjPaj, Thanks for the beer, but I don't drink. I appreciate the gesture though.
Yes, Tedy Bruschi, the freakin man.
I actually used the number 54 in my high school football days. I just a got a personalized Patriots Jersey and didn't use 54 in respect to the big man in the middle. I got 40 instead.
Bus Meet your Bus Stop!:D
Go PATS! Woo HoO!
WebHostin 01-21-2002, 04:08 AM Hey Guys!

It is considered a "Funble" when the Quarterback has the ball compltely tucket against his body, we all knwo he was on the way to put that ball back in, but the truth of the matter is .. it was NOT there yet, and since the arm was in movement from the back to front, it is legally and well called a "incomplete pass"
It sucks to the Raiders fans because we all knwo what he was doing, but hey .. he got hit before he could have doen it ;)
yeeeaahhhh .. Pats all the WAY :D
CRego3D 01-21-2002, 12:18 PM I was from Fall River, MA ... Just moved to FL 6 months ago :) ... I went to see the Bucks play ... :stickout don't think I'll be changign teams anytime soon ;)

You are correct with the rule, but it still seems they got away with it based on a technicallity. Since we have some football fans here let me pose a hypothetical question.
Say you have a QB still in the pocket but is being blitzed. He can tell he's going to get sacked but he can't throw it away. By using the same rule couldn't he technically pretend to pass it but instead when someone comes in to contact with him he just makes sure the arm is in motion and tosses the ball down, now would they let him get away with that without calling it intentional grounding?
It sounds a bit out there because of the timing but I've seen it happen many times. With larger QB's such Daunte Caulpepper I'm sure we'll see more of it in the future. Why would they risk attempting to throw it away near a passer and possibly get it intercepted when they could just throw it down after their arm is in motion and they've been contacted? Maybe I'm overlooking something, hopefully one of you will know.
I choose to Pittsburgh Steelers! Kordell Stewart has become a great leader. Maybe the St. Louis Rams will win.

Go PATS!!!
Jason Ellis 01-21-2002, 08:51 PM I'm coming in late to this thread, but I just had to say
OH MY GOD WHAT A GAME!!!!
I would say that was probably one of Boston's all-time sports highlights. I agree that if the weather conditions had been better the Pats would have just run all over the Raiders. And to be able to pull off any sort of an offensive effort (never mind the mind-blowing 9 for 9 and 8 for 8 completions that Brady piled up in his last two drives) in that kind of play situation is just totally amazing.
I agree - PATS ALL THE WAY!
